Welcome to my inaugural Substack newsletter! As we stare down the barrel of the most consequential election of our lifetimes, it’s never been more important to reach as many people as possible where they are. As you know, my digital footprint has primarily focused on video content, but in service of expanding our tent ahead of an election that will no doubt change the course of history, I’m excited to offer written content as well as video highlights to find and resonate with voters no matter how you prefer to consume the news of the day.
For years I’ve worked to combat the deluge of disinformation spewing from our current Republican party, while examining how mainstream media has contributed to (and even been complicit in) furthering the GOP’s policy of dysfunction, and pushing back on the tired rightwing trope of blaming Democrats for the world’s woes. I’ll continue that analysis in my newsletters but will carve out room to revel in the new dawn rising before our eyes across America—while also reckoning with the antagonizing forces we should not for a minute underestimate.
My weekly newsletter will serve as a roundup of crucial commentary, historical context, and an eye toward the future, offering key moments from daily videos, which include interviews with our leading political figures; analysis of the rule of law on “The Legal Breakdown” with Glenn Kirschner; voting rights intel on “Democracy Watch” with Marc Elias; insights from the other side on “Inside the Right” with Tim Miller; and “Class” with Representative Jamie Raskin, in which he detangles Constitutional fallacies. My goal is to ensure that you get the full benefit of the content that I’ve created on video during the week—in a shareable, digestible newsletter.
The battle to define who we are and what we stand for is by no means over, but—as this Substack launches—we’ve been freshly gifted with a groundswell of hope about the road ahead.
