I’m not at all proficient at anything involving statistics and I don’t really know what an algorithm is, though I get what it does. There was one commenter who broke the whole thing down really clearly, but when I went back to find it I couldn’t. Don’t know if the google gods got us or it’s just swirling around out there and will reappear later. In any case, I’m willing to do anything I can to help get us out of this nightmare.

There is a writer on here, probably more than one, that talks about the psychological effects that are happening with our brains! I see posts with 2 hearts, 0 replies, that makes me believe NO ONE, is reading anything!! I was believing that if I kept putting it out there, someone will read it and post ANY reply!! Your reply gives me hope that someone will read it and have a suggestion, or any kind of solution! In my head, I image people read, maybe, heart, and then move on to something else. Seriously? Get a grip on reality! You can't judge impact by counting replies and little heart symbols. Everyone is always saying the power is with the people, but I just don't see how. Even if we protest all day every day, the govt is set up to trample the people. We were born into it, and just play along with the charade that it's "for the people". This takeover has been evolving for decades. We are not a young country like South Korea, whose leader declared martial law and they defeated it in a day, and later prosecuted him in the courts. They haven't made the mistake of letting big money buy all of politics.

Sorry, my long reply disappeared, I'll try again. I was simply trying to express what someone else posted about how algorisms determine who gets more screen time, and how others just fall off. I'm not trying to offend ANYONE! I spent my afternoon and evening, writing to every Dem leader I could! Some leaders only accept email from their own states, or districts. That is why I try to remind people; it's all hands-on deck for every STATE! Not just one. I'm trying to do what I can. I am 70, I have a Parkinson's -Like disorder. I'm not sure what that means, because I have been waiting more than 6 months for a referral for a second opinion! I don't know if that would even help! I've looked up disorders that mimic PD, they are worse than what I already have!! I used to type with both my hands without looking, pretty quickly. Now I type with one finger, and still have to correct mistakes, because my finger shakes! My adopted son is only 14 y/o. I want my country back before I'm gone! My son is mixed, his skin tone is "brown". Clearly our country can no longer protect "brown" people! Who will be next??!! My whole living family is mostly seniors, except my brother who has been paralyzed. for years!! If you read the Report called "The Trojan Horse", you will know that everyone in my family will be on the "die" list!! When I'm gone, who will protect my son??! My brother-in-law died this week from pneumonia. My sister was sent home from a hospital procedure the same day! Apparently, she came home WITH pneumonia! Her husband told me she was delirious, so he sent her back to the hospital! In a few days my sister was released to a nursing home. My niece flew in from TX to take care of her mother. But when she went to their apartment, my brother-in-law was sick, it appears he caught pneumonia from my sister! He was really bad and was sent to ICU. That's when I finally caught up with my sister, she had checked herself out of the nursing home against orders. She was sitting in ICU with her husband! When I asked her how she had gotten to the hospital, she said she didn't know. It appears one of my cousins had posted information on Facebook, and my previous foster daughter, called me! By then, my brother-in-law had passed, and my sister was back at the nursing home. I did speak to her for a few minutes, her lungs still hurt, she said she was ok. I haven't heard anything for a few days; her children don't like me. My son has mental health issues, so "I am too lenient", and don't expect him to keep up with "her" grandchildren, who apparently are geniuses!! AND my brother is also in the hospital. They don't live close to me. But I can't go see anyone, I can't drive with PD, I don't even own a car! One of my cousins also passed two weeks ago! It's like suddenly every big star from your life suddenly dies one after the other!! So, who cares?? For the last YEAR I have been warning Dem leaders, their response, I can do nothing!! Really, every question or concern has been met with, well, HE can't do that. No he can't do that either, Congress won't let HIM do that!!! I believe it is going to take something more than just voting. For as long as I can remember, in childhood, EVERY Presidential Election was fraught with worries about an "honest" election, a "correct count" election, a "super duper correct re-count" election; AND after every election THEY would all say, "We've got to do something about these voting machines. We've got to do something to ensure a fair and honest election. Perhaps we need to return to paper ballots and hand counting." Nothing ever got done, nothing ever changed. And the all pervading question - How Do I Know My Vote Was Counted Correctly, Counted at all? still remained, remains today.
We are facing a situation now, where Trump is running amuck, the Supreme Court is tainted big time, Congress is useless, the Billionaires are completely lost in lust of greed and power, and half the country is totally blind to the destruction falling around our heads. Perhaps, we need to focus on the NEXT election, tackling the problems to ensure without doubt, that we have a fair and honest election.
I believe the days of computerized elections needs to hit the trash bin. Americans need to learn patience once again, where results are not instant, and may take days to come to fruition. We need a voting system where every American receives a timed, dated, signed by the counter, copy of their vote, who they voted for, where they voted, with correct photo ID and correct voter number, mailed to them - after it has been checked and re-checked and cross referenced for accuracy and validity. This is needed to stop votes from disappearing, like people...

This supreme court is fully complicit in allowing placing Donald Trump into office and of executing Project 2025 and bending or re-structuring all our existing safeguards to entrench this coup as our 'Government'. SCOTUS has aided in creating this entire devastation to our country from start through today. NONE of us should be following SCOTUS at this point in time. This administration follows no rules, no laws, and SCOTUS has allowed them to run fully lawless against all of our Citizens in these United States of America. We have Zero reason to trust in any rulings that SCOTUS has made since they have allowed and aided this coup and are pushing our country to fully implement the takedown of our United States of America. SCOTUS is not working for the United States of America and certainly not our citizens. They do not defend our rights as Citizens of the United States, they do not follow the standing LAWS considering Human Rights for us all, and they are fully complicit in destroying our US Constitution. It is far past time for all of us to stop complying with the 'changes to our standing laws as they have continued to re-write and re-interpret' when this current administration has been completely allowed to disregard every law and SCOTUS has paved the way. I strongly agree with your assertion that SCOTUS is complicit in creating the environment for Project 2025 to wreak havoc. SCOTUS shares that complicity with some Republican politicians who navigate(ed) Project 2025 smaller ships; i.e. Mitch McConnell. I disagree. In my community, it’s boomers who are out there relentlessly. You’ve done this before. You’re mostly retired. The reality for many is they are struggling just to keep their families taken care of (though I’ll admit they’re doing it on Starbucks and avocado toast). Boomers have been great at teaching us how to organize, letting us know what actual suffering for a cause is and keeping the energy going.

Yes, I protested in the 60’s and 70’s for women’s rights to control their own bodies and their economic futures. We got Roe for our efforts. But we are STILL struggling to get the ERA certified as the 28th Amendment, even though we have met ALL the criteria. I protested for civil rights and voting rights. And now I am doing it again, to keep a fascist regime from destroying our country, our Constitution and my grandchildren’s future. As long as I breathe, I will keep resisting and fighting for freedom.
You’re making me all gushy with nostalgia. My parents were on the front lines at that time too, and they expected their children to participate. At 8, I made signs, went to protests, and I knocked on doors. I now encourage parents to go out with their children. I recently found my late father’s testimony to Congress when we were fighting to outlaw redlining. It was mimeographed! We won that one, btw, but that didn’t stop the Trumps, from doing it anyway. I joined my 26 yo grandson and his girlfriend at the “Hands Off” protest. Then the “No Kings” one following. We must set an example for the younger ones. My parents survived fascism and the authoritarianism of Hitler’s Third Reich and the Russian Communists. They immigrated after WWII. Since my Mom was already a US citizen by birth but taken to Europe as an infant, her visa came first. They were married only 3 days when she had to travel alone on the Queen Mary to America. My Dad’s visa didn’t come for a year later. They would both be utterly appalled and disgusted by Trump’s tyranny. I will keep fighting as a tribute to my parents’ memory and their struggle for a better life in the USA. How dare Trump sully and strip our freedoms, our votes, our norms, our institutions, ignoring the Constitution and abusing the authority granted him by ignorant voters who believed his lies. How can a convicted felon and his sycophants be in power?

It seems that freedom, now is only for the privileged. It's utterly shameful how many willing participants there are, to turn their backs on the foundations of their own nation. There should be a lot of people ashamed of their betrayal of their country, and yet they expect loyalty from the military personnel. My point is that, I agree with your statement. Freedom is no longer a constitutional given. It is no longer the land of the free for everyone. It is the land of the free to the über rich, or who meet the expected societal criteria, that matches Trumps vision for perfectionism, on his terms. He demands the ultimate in loyalty and capitulation. Even those voting MAGA, that have far-right leanings, are going to find that their sorry, white asses, aren't going to secure their freedom's any better either. They've served their purpose, been used, and have been cast aside. Freedom and democracy were the words for 2024, The words for 2025 are control and autocracy. Sadly for certain non-white sectors of society, the price of freedom is only to leave over a border or leave in a box. It's no longer a level playing field. Someone that should work for your interests, has flipped the table, and your survival depends on the interest you have to them, what you can provide to them or how much flattery you can give. Ofcourse, you still have to pay them for the privelage of being used. Freedom could well become an antique in the museum of retrospection.

Inasmuch as the Constitution allocates to the states the "The Times, Places and Manner" of holding elections under the "Elections Clause", Congress can in fact make changes in what the states can or cannot do regarding setting, e.g., Congressional districting, but rarely have done so directly except for the VRA most recently. But Scotus has taken a hammer to the latter, and has stated that even the most abusive of gerrymandering is a "political question", and until Congress acts, we get what we get — see TX!
Problem is, a supermajority is required in the Senate, and a Dem majority in the House PLUS a Dem president in order to pass any No-gerrymandering/one person-one vote legislation...and how far into the future is THAT scenario?

Thank you. I listened to the whole thing, understood very little of it. I’m not at all proficient at anything involving statistics and I don’t really know what an algorithm is, though I get what it does. There was one commenter who broke the whole thing down really clearly, but when I went back to find it I couldn’t. Don’t know if the google gods got us or it’s just swirling around out there and will reappear later. In any case, I’m willing to do anything I can to help get us out of this nightmare.
Don't give up...get in touch with your local parties...even if you are NOT a Democrat there are Independents who are working for the same...Here in Southern Oregon we've started meetings to organize at our local libraries...
I recently got purged and reregistered as an independent. It makes sense in my state because independents can vote in any election or primary.

Sorry, I'm NOT a writer, I don't know how to make the evidence look "sugar coated" in a polite, calm, way!!! I appreciate your reply, honestly! I have tried presenting this urgent information, in different ways! It seems we have all become numb, to whatever happens!! Video of ICE "agents" smashing in the windows on cars and dragging people into the street, barely made a ripple!! There is a writer on here, probably more than one, that talks about the psychological effects that are happening with our brains! I see posts with 2 hearts, 0 replies, that makes me believe NO ONE, is reading anything!! I was believing that if I kept putting it out there, someone will read it and post ANY reply!! Your reply gives me hope that someone will read it and have a suggestion, or any kind of solution! In my head, I image people read, maybe, heart, and then move on to something else. If someone after reading this information, asks a question or comments, I want to be able to make a reply! It's terrifying to me, that WHATEVER "THEY" do or say, we do nothing!! Seriously? Get a grip on reality! You can't judge impact by counting replies and little heart symbols. Everyone is always saying the power is with the people, but I just don't see how. Even if we protest all day every day, the govt is set up to trample the people. We were born into it, and just play along with the charade that it's "for the people". This takeover has been evolving for decades. We are not a young country like South Korea, whose leader declared martial law and they defeated it in a day, and later prosecuted him in the courts. They haven't made the mistake of letting big money buy all of politics.
There's an old adage : Complain to those who can remedy the situation.
So, don't scream at us, the people. Ask for help in making an impactful noise to those who can remedy it: the current office holders, lawyers, bond companies, political party organizations, voting system companies, election board, investigative journalists (expose the culprits), etc.
Sorry, my long reply disappeared, I'll try again. I was simply trying to express what someone else posted about how algorisms determine who gets more screen time, and how others just fall off. I'm not trying to offend ANYONE! I spent my afternoon and evening, writing to every Dem leader I could! Some leaders only accept email from their own states, or districts. That is why I try to remind people; it's all hands-on deck for every STATE! Not just one. I'm trying to do what I can. I am 70, I have a Parkinson's -Like disorder. I'm not sure what that means, because I have been waiting more than 6 months for a referral for a second opinion! I don't know if that would even help! I've looked up disorders that mimic PD, they are worse than what I already have!! I used to type with both my hands without looking, pretty quickly. Now I type with one finger, and still have to correct mistakes, because my finger shakes! My adopted son is only 14 y/o. I want my country back before I'm gone! My son is mixed, his skin tone is "brown". Clearly our country can no longer protect "brown" people! Who will be next??!! My whole living family is mostly seniors, except my brother who has been paralyzed. for years!! If you read the Report called "The Trojan Horse", you will know that everyone in my family will be on the "die" list!! When I'm gone, who will protect my son??! My brother-in-law died this week from pneumonia. My sister was sent home from a hospital procedure the same day! Apparently, she came home WITH pneumonia! Her husband told me she was delirious, so he sent her back to the hospital! In a few days my sister was released to a nursing home. My niece flew in from TX to take care of her mother. But when she went to their apartment, my brother-in-law was sick, it appears he caught pneumonia from my sister! He was really bad and was sent to ICU. That's when I finally caught up with my sister, she had checked herself out of the nursing home against orders. She was sitting in ICU with her husband! When I asked her how she had gotten to the hospital, she said she didn't know. It appears one of my cousins had posted information on Facebook, and my previous foster daughter, called me! By then, my brother-in-law had passed, and my sister was back at the nursing home. I did speak to her for a few minutes, her lungs still hurt, she said she was ok. I haven't heard anything for a few days; her children don't like me. My son has mental health issues, so "I am too lenient", and don't expect him to keep up with "her" grandchildren, who apparently are geniuses!! AND my brother is also in the hospital. They don't live close to me. But I can't go see anyone, I can't drive with PD, I don't even own a car! One of my cousins also passed two weeks ago! It's like suddenly every big star from your life suddenly dies one after the other!! So, who cares?? For the last YEAR I have been warning Dem leaders, their response, I can do nothing!! Really, every question or concern has been met with, well, HE can't do that. No he can't do that either, Congress won't let HIM do that!!! For as long as I can remember, in childhood, EVERY Presidential Election was fraught with worries about an "honest" election, a "correct count" election, a "super duper correct re-count" election; AND after every election THEY would all say, "We've got to do something about these voting machines. We've got to do something to ensure a fair and honest election. Perhaps we need to return to paper ballots and hand counting." Nothing ever got done, nothing ever changed. And the all pervading question - How Do I Know My Vote Was Counted Correctly, Counted at all? still remained, remains today.
We are facing a situation now, where Trump is running amuck, the Supreme Court is tainted big time, Congress is useless, the Billionaires are completely lost in lust of greed and power, and half the country is totally blind to the destruction falling around our heads. Perhaps, we need to focus on the NEXT election, tackling the problems to ensure without doubt, that we have a fair and honest election.
I believe the days of computerized elections needs to hit the trash bin. Americans need to learn patience once again, where results are not instant, and may take days to come to fruition. We need a voting system where every American receives a timed, dated, signed by the counter, copy of their vote, who they voted for, where they voted, with correct photo ID and correct voter number, mailed to them - after it has been checked and re-checked and cross referenced for accuracy and validity. This is needed to stop votes from disappearing, like people...

I disagree. In my community, it’s boomers who are out there relentlessly. You’ve done this before. You’re mostly retired. The reality for many is they are struggling just to keep their families taken care of (though I’ll admit they’re doing it on Starbucks and avocado toast). Boomers have been great at teaching us how to organize, letting us know what actual suffering for a cause is and keeping the energy going.

And now I am doing it again, to keep a fascist regime from destroying our country, our Constitution and my grandchildren’s future. As long as I breathe, I will keep resisting and fighting for freedom.

At 8, I made signs, went to protests, and I knocked on doors. I now encourage parents to go out with their children. I joined my 26 yo grandson and his girlfriend at the “Hands Off” protest. Then the “No Kings” one following. We must set an example for the younger ones. My parents survived fascism and the authoritarianism of Hitler’s Third Reich and the Russian Communists. They immigrated after WWII. Since my Mom was already a US citizen by birth but taken to Europe as an infant, her visa came first. They were married only 3 days when she had to travel alone on the Queen Mary to America. My Dad’s visa didn’t come for a year later. They would both be utterly appalled and disgusted by Trump’s tyranny. I will keep fighting as a tribute to my parents’ memory and their struggle for a better life in the USA. My point is that, I agree with your statement. Freedom is no longer a constitutional given. It is no longer the land of the free for everyone. It is the land of the free to the über rich, or who meet the expected societal criteria, that matches Trumps vision for perfectionism, on his terms. How do we pass a ban on gerrymandering while those doing it control all 3 branches of government?
Inasmuch as the Constitution allocates to the states the "The Times, Places and Manner" of holding elections under the "Elections Clause", Congress can in fact make changes in what the states can or cannot do regarding setting, e.g., Congressional districting, but rarely have done so directly except for the VRA most recently. But Scotus has taken a hammer to the latter, and has stated that even the most abusive of gerrymandering is a "political question", and until Congress acts, we get what we get — see TX!
Problem is, a supermajority is required in the Senate, and a Dem majority in the House PLUS a Dem president in order to pass any No-gerrymandering/one person-one vote legislation...and how far into the future is THAT scenario?
Both democrat and republican controlled states gerrymander. Listen to what Newsom’s been talking about. Tit for tat gerrymandering.
Please, Democratic governors, get started right now!! Begin redistricting to gain as many districts as possible!

Options to retain our democracy dwindle each day, with SCOTUS continuing to grease our slide into autocracy. Betting that there will be fair midterms -- much less midterms at all -- is a long shot. The 'will' of the people is increasingly unlikely to be served. It's going to take more than protests to change our course.
I 100% agree. If Democrats are not willing to leave that high-road, intellectualizing garbage behind, they need to step aside and let someone with a spine take over. Again, I'm not saying people need to wallow around in the gutter with the "Republicans" (there are better, more appropriate names), but this flag football game they're playing when the other team is playing full-on contact, winner take all football has got to stop!! Grow a pair and stop telling us how all their behavior is unethical, inappropriate, illegal.....WE KNOW THAT, and fight fire with fire. Do everything that you can to slow, stop and/or reverse these actions. Enough is enough!! Note: The American people are doing what they can and will continue to step up. I'm speaking to the elected officials whose job it is to protect this country, ensure the laws and the constitution is being adhered to and followed; The people who are being paid to ensure our country remains a democracy.

Okay, Kathy Hochul, Governor of NY though said she wanted to gerrymander but state law said she had to go through certain steps which would take a few years. So why should she wait? Why doesn't she just go ahead and do it? Every Democratic governor needs to gerrymander NOW.
