I have no doubt that when Thiel pulled out & told Vance to wipe his chin, Thiel informed him very plainly that the plan was for him to invoke the 25th. I'm just fear that a JV Schvantz in office (if it's actually something you can conceive), would be even worse than a trump in office. Not that I'm suggesting trump stay in office by any means...

Agreed. I have thought for over a year that invoking the 25th was the Vance & boys plan all along. Either that, or Trump will die because he looks pretty bad now and has very low energy if he is not taking extra adderall to stay somewhat coherent and focused. But I fear Vance is even more Hitleresque in his ideas of eugenics and race superiority. To me, it is pure and dangerous power hunger that Vance has; while Trump is more hungry for power to fill a huge black void in his soul started in his early life. One could almost feel sorry for him if not for his total lack of insight and disdain of knowledge of any sort. Everything he does is instinctive and feral.....

Trump was asked (one of those fluffy interviews) if he considered Vance his successor and he responded with "no" (okay, did he understand the question?) - but he often says or does things that foretell his intentions.

In the meantime, Elon (and his mother and one of the kids) are in the White House - arriving, it seems, on Air Force One last night?

It's a crazy time.

But he's golfing, of course.

Pass it on:

Mary Rockers

I will not be drawn into debate over this post. I am aware of the arguments of people who disagree with the statements below. I am posting this for all those who may be living in fear in this moment so you know you are not alone. Al Updike

I want to share this piece in solidarity:

This is where I stand. The 45/47th President, his power hungry cronies taking positions of authority in his Cabinet and administration, and the majority of Republicans in Congress are a real and active threat to me, my way of life, and all or most of the people I love.

Some people are saying that we should give Trump a chance, that we should "work together" with him because he won the election and he is "everyone's president." This is my response:

•I will not forget how badly he and so many others treated former President Barack Obama for 8 years and Biden cleaning up his mess...Lies about his legitimacy and hatred for his principles and his attempts to work within the system.

•I will not "work together" to privatize Medicare, cut Social Security and Medicaid.

•I will not "work together" to subvert the Constitution by illegitimately pushing unfit Cabinet nominees through on recess appointments without the advice and consent of the Senate.

•I will not "work together" to build a wall.

•I will not "work together" to persecute Muslims.

•I will not "work together" to shut out refugees from other countries who seek asylum.

•I will not "work together" to lower taxes on the 1% and increase taxes on the middle class and poor.

•I will not "work together" to help Trump use the Presidency to line his pockets and those of his family and cronies.

•I will not "work together" to weaken and demolish environmental protection.

•I will not "work together" to sell American lands, especially National Parks, to companies which then despoil those lands.

•I will not "work together" to enable the killing of whole species of animals just because they are predators, or inconvenient for a few, or because some people want to get their thrills killing them.

•I will not "work together" to remove civil rights from anyone.

•I will not "work together" to alienate countries that have been our allies for as long as I have been alive.

•I will not "work together" to slash funding for education.

•I will not "work together" to take basic assistance from people who are at the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder.

•I will not "work together" to get rid of common sense regulations on guns.

•I will not "work together" to eliminate the minimum wage.

•I will not "work together" to support so-called "Right To Work" laws, or undermine, weaken or destroy Unions in any way.

•I will not "work together" to suppress scientific research, be it on climate change, fracking, or any other issue where a majority of scientists agree that Trump and his supporters are wrong on the facts.

•I will not "work together" to criminalize abortion or restrict health care for women.

•I will not "work together" to increase the number of nations that have nuclear weapons.

•I will not "work together" to put even more "big money" into politics.

•I will not "work together" to violate the Geneva Convention.

•I will not "work together" to give the Ku Klux Klan, the Nazi Party and white supremacists a seat at the table, or to normalize their hatred.

•I will not "work together" to deny health care to people who need it.

•I will not "work together" to deny medical coverage to people on the basis of a "pre-existing condition."

•I will not "work together" to increase voter suppression.

•I will not "work together" to normalize tyranny.

•I will not “work together” to eliminate or reduce ethical oversight at any level of government.

•I will not "work together" with anyone who is, or admires, tyrants and dictators.

•I will not support anyone that thinks it's OK to put a pipeline to transport oil on Sacred Ground for Native Americans. And, it would run under the Missouri River, which provides drinking water for millions of people. An accident waiting to happen.

•I will not "work together" to legitimize racism, sexism, and authoritarianism.

This is my line, and I am drawing it.

•I WILL stand for honesty, love, respect for all living beings, and for the beating heart that is the center of Life itself.

•I WILL use my voice and my hands, to reach out to the uninformed, and to anyone who will LISTEN:

That "winning", "being great again", "rich" or even "beautiful" is nothing... When others are sacrificed to glorify its existence.

Feel free to unfriendly me on facebook if you wish.

I rarely publically get involved and this is not politics but this is about being kind, having morals, and behaving in a way as if my children and Grandchildren are always watching me and others who set an example. This affects me and my family and friends in way more ways than one.

If there ever IS another "free/fair" election! Remember Trump told his base they would never have to vote again. And now the news that Trump is dismantling the US cybersecurity blocking Russia from infiltrating our country...

Trump is on track to dismantle our democracy faster than Hitler did in 1933...

"Hitler systematically disabled & then dismantled his country’s democratic structures & processes in less than 2 months’ time—specifically, 1 month, 3 weeks, 2 days, 8 hours, & 40 minutes. The minutes, as we will see, mattered."

https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2025/01/hitler-germany-constitution-authoritarianism/681233/

Trump, Vance, the Oligarchs and the authors of Project 2025 ALL understand this 👇

“The big joke on democracy is that it gives its mortal enemies the means to its own destruction.” - Joseph Goebbels, March 23, 1933 (The day Hiter succeeded in destroying Germany"s democracy)

https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2025/01/hitler-germany-constitution-authoritarianism/681233/

I don't think ENOUGH Americans actually know how Hitler destroyed Germany"s democracy, nor how quickly and "democratically" he did it.

It will take just a few Republicans in the House and Senate to grow a spine to stand up to Trump to prevent the dismantling of our democracy. It is up to their constituents to make them accountable. We're already seeing it start to happen at town halls.

I recommend watching Rachel Maddow or listen to her podcast, to maintain some degree of hope.

I have written elsewhere, if we wait until the midterms there won't be any midterms! The time for action is now! And I've learned calling my representative for calling my senators is a waste of time! They may have to make a record of the call but that doesn't mean they have to do anything with it they don't care! My senators and representative are all Republicans and I live in a deeply Red State the state of florida. So no they don't care about my opinion because my opinion doesn't matter to them and in Florida it just doesn't matter! I really believe and embrace my heart to even say so but we are headed towards another civil war because Republicans are going to back down with all of their crap and the only way to get the country back on track is for Democrats to do stuff and Democrats are too wimpy they whine about this they whine about that to talk about working across the aisle. Working across the aisle who are you kidding when has ever a Republican worked across the aisle especially since John McCain passed away you think Republicans are going to work across the aisle where they have both houses and Congress and the presidency as well as the Supreme Court of their backs pocket hell no! Brian - I was shocked like everyone else at the recent debacle in the Oval Office. Of note was Trump's red-faced rant about Putin being the only one who stood by him after the 2020 election was stolen from him. Did they stay in touch for the past 4 years, with Putin soothing poor Donnie's crushed ego? Is that really what all this retribution is about? If so, then he really HATES all of America and it won't matter if his poll numbers drop, his followers get angry, or even if he loses court cases. All of our protests/activities will be for nothing unless we can impeach his entire administration. They are actively cutting us off from our allies as they gut our ability to respond. We are looking at more than a Constitutional crisis; this is an existential crisis. Am I crazy here?

We, the people signed the Constitution into play, and it is we, the people who must raise the voice against bad things being done by our government. Congress is supposed to follow the Constitutional words and intent, but that is only assured with the consent of the people not letting Congress and other political leaders do what they want without oppression by us. We are the power of our Constitutional democratic republic, and we can make Congress act as the Founders intended by not voting for people who intend to control things for their own purpose, and by letting current officials know that if they don't start acting with responsibility toward the expectations of their office toward what we, the people and our nation need and want toward a "more perfect union", not toward a fascist oligarchy they will be kicked to the curb. Rights come with the responsibility to protect them, which is our job, not to just depend on Congress to do it.

It's silly to say the "Republicans are doing Democrats' work" because liberals and progressives, so to speak, were so sure that everyone would see how bad the current president is. So much for that. What we voters need to do is insist on really expanding that tent. This voter? Neither party works for workers. Neither party stands with unions. Neither party really wants to get rid of the Electoral College (unless their party's candidate loses). One person, one vote. Facing dystopian change.

We are at a juncture in history that has been written about by science fiction writers for the past 60 years. There is a branch in the road to the future separating societies that are run by wealthy overlords and those that are run by representative government. The one led by wealthy overlords are characterized by oppression, aggression and domination as the fundamental tools of managing society. The ones led by representative government cooperation, opportunity and equality. It is a pretty clear choice. A very popular story line follows heroes who combat the wealthy overlords but rarely even in fiction are they successful in replacing them with representative government. This type of entertainment was/is not written by authors simply seeking sales. These are future historians who are warning us. it is not a coincidence that the most popular stories in our time are the ones where the oppressed are resisting that oppression and the HERO emerges to … do something … never sure exactly what the outcome is because the story ends when the Hero kills the villain as if that solves all problems.

The fact is becoming more and more clear that to change the course we are currently on is going to require more than the normal functioning of our previously trusted institutions such as the judiciary or future elections. What is unclear is what it is going to take for the vast majority of Americans, and citizens of the Earth to realize just where we are in or path toward the future. We are at that branching point. Or, sadly we are just past it on the Oligarch branch. The further we go down that branch the more bloody and impossible it will be to change our course. This is why Musk wants speed and wants to break things first. Once they are broken he thinks we will be more likely to accept his solution which will put him in charge. I say this about Musk but it is patently true about the project 2025 authors, about Trump who will become a minor player soon, and Vance who is the real puppet scheduled to wear the face of this change while he masters remain behind the scenes enjoying their luxuries.

So, it is important for us who are in opposition to the Oligarch branch to not become distracted by the popularity contest between the different factions. This is a distraction just like Trump’s Greenland, or renaming the Gulf or going to Ft Knox. And, the notion of the Hero is only a function of story telling. That is not how this is going to play out. So, don’t be depending on someone else’s actions. Unfortunately, we don’t have a plan. Or if we do it is not being publicized. I have no idea why. So I assume we really don’t have one. As I have said waiting and depending on the institutions that are being actively dismantled by our leaders is not a plan. And waiting two years for the mid terms is way to slow. Some 45% of Americans still favor Trump and what he is doing. Even while when you talk to them their approval is based on a hope that it will all work out … somehow.
