I watched as a dignified woman performed her Constitutional duties while an insurrectionist sat beside her, his head moving like a bobblehead with an indescribable grin.

I wonder how Johnson would have reacted if the proceedings were attacked and someone left their feces on his desk?

Now, 'feces' moves into the White House in a few weeks. We must rally to get everyone to vote in 2026 to amend the Congress and get rid of the stench. After two years of the nightmare to come, I think Americans (including the disillusioned maga) will be ready for a positive change. A strong, honest Congress can prevent the worst damage that orange traitor can inflict.

From the moment he is sworn in, he will be an illegitimate president. The 14th Amendment, Section 3 prohibits him from holding office in any capacity due to inciting insurrection. The Amendment is self fulfilling, and SCOTUS is a criminal organization, working for their purchasers, not for the Constitution or the American people. There is a lot to overcome, but we went through a civil war and recovered. We can, and must, recover from this.

So it was just another day of defeat. Same s#it, same pile.

America's self destruct timer keeps on relentlessly ticking away.

Never Give Up. Never Surrender.

Live to fight another day.

Keep Calm and Carry On. (and don't forget your towel!)

We have not yet begun to fight, and

When we fight, we win.

Winners never cheat, and cheaters never win.....for long.

Karma is a bitch.

Those who hold power illegitimately, can never trust anyone, never rest, and sleep with one eye open. They know they are surrounded by vultures and have no friend.

We. Will. Survive. Trump. (but he won't survive us)

Ok - time to go hide under my blankets again. 🙃

While some Republicans are cowardly, I am most concerned that the others actually believe in Trump's selfishness. They only care for themselves as obey so they can participate in the corruption of our Republic. As the Bible says: Cupidity is the root of all evil.

Uphold the Constitution? Bullshit! Every member of Congress had the legal duty to refuse to certify every vote for Trump because after having taken an oath to uphold the Constitution he was found guilty by a Colorado court of inciting INSURRECTION. Section 3 of the 14th amendment clearly states that anyone who has sworn to uphold the Constitution who has subsequently been found guilty of insurrection is constitutionally barred from holding any office on a state or federal level. Every member of Congress has violated the oath they took to uphold the Constitution by certifying Trump votes. BLACK AND WHITE!! CLEAR AS DAY!! What were they thinking?? They lost their only and last chance to save this country from a new Hitler.

Very well said! My big concern is that he will use his chaos to distract. And we must stay focused on whatever his real agenda is - for example, sending Don jr to Greenland for photo op and distracting from the confirmation process of truely unfit and awful nominees such as RFK jr and Tulsi Gabbard.

[Hit SEND by mistake again. As mentioned, very old.]

So, maybe give DJT a chance? He says he wants to usher in an American Golden Age. Would that suck so bad? Maybe let him try? Stay vigilant, of course. But sometimes good things can happen if we stay positive. At least through Inauguration Day?

Personally, I am under no illusion. He had his chance and screwed everybody! When people show you who they are, believe them. He has shown us time and again, and if you see a decent guy, you need a new eyeglass prescription and better hearing aids. Listen, I'm an older man too, but I know what I've seen and we have no choice but to "give him a chance" while fighting every misstep. We did that in 2016 and he hasn't learned a damn thing. He and his thugs can take apart the Constitution & Democracy. They've told you that, and now we will all see that this country is in a very fragile moment.

What kind of scam is this, Brian? I paid five bucks a couple of weeks ago to comment on a post on your other blog-thing (Sorry, I don’t know the tech jargon for this sorta thing: I’m very old.)

Anyway, I coughed up another $5 to comment a second time in as many weeks, after happily subscribing free for a year or so. Because it may be time to step back, take a breath.

I am no fan of DJT. I had hoped to be able to put it all behind, move on, as Kamala suggested. But voters went the other way. Incredibly, the Insurrectionist-In-Chief will soon take the sacred, inviolable oath as POTUS. [Not even Hollywood could make up this stuff! Truly Wild, as DJT might say].

Maybe this time he might do better at the oath-keeping thing? [Maybe best to not mention Oath-Keepers? What will they be doing this time, 1/20? Any official role?]

One thing you overlooked in your post re DJT’s half-mast breakdown: after President Carter’s death, he posted a very thoughtful, sympathetic tweet to honor his predecessor. All the news outlets carried it, along with other former-President tributes. Maybe the near
