All this is encouraging for Democrats but let’s hope the magas don’t sabotage the election itself. They seem to be willing to do ANYTHING to avoid losing.

Yes. We mustn't let our guard down or become complacent. Our country is worth fighting for. Let's keep the heat ON!!

Dan Fox's avatar

Let us not forget that the Dems themselves have an unnaturally good ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. They still persist in bringing a talking points memo to a knife fight, as we used to say in the Obama years. They routinely confuse "taking the high road" with "spluttering impotently."

Actually according to Republican rule. The one that is the most trashy and corrupt. They will be the next Senator

Michelle Nee's avatar

That would be Ken Paxton.

Christopher Mark's avatar

Correct. 😑 Now let’s see what happens

Love the James Talarico quote: “A little bit of hope is a dangerous thing”. The Blue Wave is coming!

It amazes me that the top law enforcement official in Texas is also one of it's most corrupt inhabitants.

Nah, I lived there most of my life. Totally normal.

Republicans have much more money to spend; the billionaires and corporations that make up the military-industrial complex have made sure of that! I'm completely mystified as to why the rich want this fascist front to win; the first thing they'll do if they succeed in making this an authoritarian govt. is to renege on all promises and throw their "friends" under the bus!

chris lemon's avatar

They're rich, that doesn't make them smart.

👆🎯Musk is proof of that concept.

STUPID, TOXIC CRIMINALLY INSANE THUG, TRAITOR and TROLL Elon Musk!

Paul McElveen's avatar

NO, THEY ARE STUPID!

Brenda Hale's avatar

They want the fascists to win because it means more money in their pockets. Getting rid of EPA restrictions, letting companies produce products they KNOW cause cancer, but prohibiting lawsuits if it does. Gutting safety nets of food and healthcare will actually cause more deaths. If you have to choose between your medication or food, you are in a no win position.

Darn, Ken Paxton is one of the worst of a very bad lot. But it's a big plus that "Republicans are going to dump God knows how much more money into knifing each other." And this after the secretary of state’s office failed to provide accurate information on the voting locations & voters had trouble locating their location! Texas’ Republican attorney general sued to oppose extended voting hours for those confused voters. And the GOP-controlled state Supreme Court quickly ruled in its favor per Democracy Docket. Cheering on Mary Peltola, Sherrod Brown, Roy Cooper, & Graham Platner & Janet Mills.

chris lemon's avatar

That the GOP still has support beyond the 20% of the voters who are basically Klan members, is astounding. It's nice to see them flailing, but that the Dems don't have a complete sweep of the house and senate locked up is still an amazing indictment of the political system in the US. It's exceptionally depressing that the GOP voters wouldn't even have minded the fact that Trump launched a war without bothering to consult with congress if gas prices hadn't gone up.

Paul Bobak's avatar

After all the gerrymandering and dollars spent it would be the best feeling to have Texas vote a democrat in the Senate. A real coup!

$90 Milllion? The cost of about 6 interceptor missiles then. Why do all these guys look like they shop at the same drug store as Trump for facial foundation? Must be some kind of secret signal for a certain class of people.

Orange is the new white.

He probably makes them buy his orange spackle foundation, from him, and regularly checks to make sure they wear it, as a loyalty test.

Any “real” conservatives left should be a lock for Democratic candidates. There is literally no conservative thinking or policies left in the current Republican Party (Despite what many GOP candidates will say).

I’m Texan and Conservative and Fully behind Talarico. I’m also fully behind Crockett becoming Speaker of the House and ALL Democrats running in Texas AND behind Beto taking a Crack at Lt Governor.

Mehdididit's avatar

Crockett gave up her seat to run for senate. She won’t be a rep anymore so she can’t be Speaker. I wish she had tried to win in her old district. Yes, it’s been redrawn, but I think she could have won it anyway. Then she would be poised to take on Cruz when his seat comes up. I’ll be curious to see what she does next.

PLawson85's avatar

She can very easily run for Her neighboring District 33 and Caucus for House Speaker.

Mehdididit's avatar

Does she still have time to run in District 33?

PLawson85's avatar

Yes. Because her District 30 term ends in Mid January 2027.

Mehdididit's avatar

She’d be a great speaker!

George's avatar

There is no legal requirement that the Speaker of the House must be a House member. If you are an American citizen, the House can legally elect you to be their Speaker. That being said, such a situation has not occurred before and it is unlikely that the new House would select Crockett.

Mehdididit's avatar

I’d forgotten that! Thanks for the reminder. I remember being horrified when someone suggested that republicans could make tRump Speaker when republicans had such a hard time selecting one from inside their caucus.

No matter how bad the maggats get, no matter how far they go in their (now) blatant cheating and intimidation-none of it matters if we cannot have a fair election. The chances of that seem to be going over the horizon more quickly than ever.

Can't wait to see who decides to follow trump's idea of a regime change, right here in the USA.

It scares me even to speculate. But then, so much speculation in the last ten years has become stone cold reality, it should terrify us all.

Imagine being a maggat and being too stupid to even feel the fear that we rightly should be feeling now. Too stupid to see trump's goons carting off your family and all that you think you own. Too damn stupid to realize that you, the maggats, are the Nazis of the next 100 years. That you will be reviled and hated for eternity. You and yours.

You know Pax is awaiting his full orange stain endorsement so he can lose and then blame him for losing. Where upon the orange stain will tell his faithful he wanted the other guy all along. Talk about the attention span of a 3 year old.
