Please make it so! 🤔👍

They need to push this nationwide. It would force candidates to campaign in every state which…is kind of the idea? The blue voter in Wyoming benefits; the red voter in California benefits.

The electoral college is no longer necessary. The whole idea was to avoid an unqualified candidate being elected by the people and act as a guardrail. If there was any time it should have been used, it would have been for electing a corrupt game-show host rapist TWICE.

I say get rid of the electoral college altogether!

This solution does not require a constitutional amendment to acheive. This solution only needs states with 48 electoral votes to pass and sign legislation for it to go into effect.

Why do we even need 'electoral votes' to validate a majority popular vote? Why can't the Electoral Congress body be abolished altogether? I understand why the Electoral College was created, but I would like to understand why, in today's US society/government, it has any benefit.

It will take a constitutional amendment to eliminate the Electoral College, since it is written into the Constitution. Amendments take a 2/3 vote in the House and Senate plus ratification by 3/4 of the states. Pretty damn hard. Right now the only benefit is to oligarchs and conservatives.

Already contacted my governor and pushed again to sign the NPVIC for Arizona. No time to waste!

No brainer. Had this been in place 11 years ago we’d never had suffered the disgraceful policies of either Trump admin, and we ‘d still be respected around the world. Climate change would be much less of a threat, and people would actually like each other a lot more. Doesn’t that sounds like the country and world we all want?!

This is such a transformative idea. How can we help make it so? (especially those of us in small states like my own of Vermont)......

Brett Slocum's avatar

Vermont has already passed it. Get your friends in states that haven't done it yet and have a trifecta in state government to contact their reps.

Definitely needs to be done. As an Australian, I have never understood the logic of the electoral college system, especially in modern times. While our system is not perfect, I know that my vote is equal to every other in the country regardless of where I live. We also have compulsory voting which gives a much more accurate picture of how the population feels as a whole.

This is an opportunity the Democrats desperately need to seize.

We need to get this done.

Couldn't agree with you more, BUT, why even keep the Electoral College? It only serves the purpose of undermining the majority vote, which should supercede all else..........

Minnesota passed the Compact the last time MN had a trifecta in 2023. This would be so good to achieve.
