This is not the Supreme Court -- it is 6 fascists in black robes...better to be known as SFIBR.

Nadine Roddy's avatar

Mary Trump always refers to them--accurately in my view--as "the corrupt, illegitimate super-majority of the Supreme Court."

Mike Yochim's avatar

I call them the corrupt, illegitimate supreme court. I refuse to recognize their supremacy by using capital letters.

Another good name is the Seditious Six.

Debbie E's avatar

I do the same when referring to the orange buffoon aka trump.

T Kashi's avatar

It's the supremacy court

paulahik's avatar

I call them SCROTUM.

I want to see an AI picture of 6 in white robes and 3 in black.

lyn molstrom's avatar

white robes and sheets on their heads. I've actually seen a post like that.

Colly66's avatar

Ironic isn't it they wear Black robes, surprised they haven't swapped them to white with white hoods.

Lee Lenard's avatar

That would make Thomas stand out.

Colly66's avatar

LOL, meant to say he needs to paint his face white.

The Supreme Court, which has become a lawless crime organization, has outlived its usefulness. It needs to be broken down and redone. It should be 5 and 5, an equal split. Allowing the president to stack it with people who take bribes has to come to an end.

No, there's a reason it's an odd number: to avoid tie votes and accomplishing nothing. The answer is to expand it to 13 justices, reflecting the current number of appellate circuits.

I'd also support age limits and a binding code of ethics.

Colleen Wetteland's avatar

Agree it needs to be an odd number but I like his idea of equal split, all though they should be non partisan.

Age limits, term limits and an oversight body who enforces the code of ethics! Break one you are OUT!

Beth Winfrey's avatar

That is exactly what I think as well. Putting those rules in place will go a long way toward repairing the court. And get rid of Roberts and put someone in charge who doesn't have a grudge about some part of laws already passed.

paulahik's avatar

Get rid of thomas, too. He's just a black diamond apple: black on the outside, white on the inside.

Beth Winfrey's avatar

Definitely, he needs to go. Someone forgot to tell him he's actually a black man, not a white one.

Colleen Wetteland's avatar

Right?!? He is a total disgrace to people in general but especially our black brothers and sisters! Besides he is corrupt as all get out!

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

Until gerrymandering is outlawed and EVERY state draws its lines through a non-partisan body, the Democrats have to fight fire with fire. And anyone preventing it -- like the Senate president in Maryland -- is, in effect, a partner with Trump.

paulahik's avatar

Yes. Virginia should pull a republican and ignore what their state sc says and just do it, anyway.

Excellent article Brian! I just wish that everyone would realize the urgency of the moment. We are in a fight to save our democracy and to many Democrats are complacent and want to play nice and that's not going to cut it! Not anymore!

Jeff is right. Roberts in particular has wanted to gut the voting rights act from the beginning. We can thank the Bush boys for three of these horrible justices lets not forget. They are the worst court in a 100 years or at least in the last 60. The last really good court was the Warren Court which the GOP claimed was too activist. Now that they are doing it they no longer think that. Funny thing that. Time for the gloves to come off. There are no queensbury rules this is a street fight and the sooner our leaders realize that the better. Thanks Brian as always for reminding us that the GOP has no desire for fairness or equity.

Harishchandra Gihwala's avatar

These justices have become rogue, hence we need to change the whole setup to giving them term limits, to end this corruption.

Corrupt, corrupt corrupt… It’s just amazing to see the obviousness of this goddamn administration… Oh yeah Epstein files‼️

Supreme corruption is not just or fair. The Court and the GOP are turning the country into a "Turd" world country.

Kelli Klymenko's avatar

At some point we need to stop pretending this court is operating above politics.

We all saw this coming.

Republicans spent decades capturing the judiciary precisely so moments like this would happen — and establishment Democrats kept acting like preserving institutional norms mattered more than confronting what was happening in plain sight.

Now we have a court that bends principles whenever Republican power is threatened and suddenly discovers “restraint” or “originalism” only when it serves the outcome they want.

Democrats should have expanded the court when they had the chance. Instead they kept trying to play by rules the other side abandoned years ago.

Eric Wynkoop's avatar

Ordered it! Thank you

Ron Bravenec's avatar

Amen, Brian. You explain this issue better than anyone else. I just wish that Democratic leaders could comprehend the danger we’re in and act with determination. To hell with “norms!”

I am apoplectic about Virginia’s legislature refusing to defy their Supreme Court decision. If this applied to Republicans, they would find a way.

Wow the Supreme Court whom we used to trust and depend on has turned on us now they are as corrupt as the trump family

The six “ justices” appointed by GOP presidents are corrupt individuals who accept bribes illegally; who vote against the Constitution; who are racist, sexist despicable creatures

Republican jurisprudence = partisan rationalization. The KKK must be proud.

Our justices owe us so much more. They are way too enamored of comity and decorum. They should be out in the streets protesting every day instead of impotently pontificating from behind the dais. Congress too for that matter.
