A great closing to a great article. This administration took advantage of the cracks in our system. Now it’s their/our responsibility to adress those cracks so we don’t have another president build wealth for his and in family to the tens of billions while peeing our head, then telling us it’s rain.
What if DJT is able to nationalize the voting syatem despite the best efforts to stop it? What further steps can be taken to stop this treacherous traitor from dismantling our Democratic Republic and its Constitution rght before our eyes?
If the U.S. military armed services still has any backbone left, they could do something about it. If they did, I'm pretty sure that the majority of "WE THE PEOPLE" welcome it.👍
It appears that Charles Duhigg's analysis was largely accurate, though there might be a slight divergence in section 4 regarding Mr. Mamdani's political leanings. It seems Mr. Mamdani is advocating for social democracy and certain aspects of democratic socialism, which is a perspective I find to be quite valid.
As a progressive, I’m not alone in my disgust of my Dem party and the time they have wasted in putting out a compelling message. Saying “we hate Trump” and “democracy is dying” is not enough. Where is the vision? Where are the slogans that people can rally around? “A chicken in every pot” is realistic again, sadly! The current corrupt administration will not be gone unless there is a compelling alternative. What is the alternative? Ask 100 people and you’ll not get an answer. I’m beginning to think all they want is more donations and no plan. Where is all the $$ going?
The six Supreme Court Justices, who favor DJT, make the final decision on legal matters. They are the ones that let the evil genie out of the bottle and now he's refusing to go back, come hell or high water.😡
I agree with you, Brian. We need to go back to Obama's game plan because it works! You always have to go back to the basics, especially when dealing with an evil regime. We can't let the repugs beat us at our own game!
What the Dems need to "go back to" is a class war. The GOP "trickle down" farce has only succeeded this long because the Dems, beholden to their corporate overlords, absolutely refused to grab the one issue, economic fairness, they could run on and not lose. Start with the fact that if the Dems proposed Bernie Sanders' policies to the MAGA cult, while promising that none of the benefits would go to blacks or hispanics, they would get about 80% approval and in an election, the GOP would be completely obliterated. Work back from that to something constitutional, and less vile, to get to merely rendering the GOP irrelevant.
I just wish we could get rid of trump and not have to worry about this fight. So many people from other countries won't even come here because of him, ICE, facist president and fascist regime.
Older Democrats think they know better and Obama is younger and employed more progressive tactics. The idea of "electability" is passe. AND we want straight to the point talk - rather than talking and saying nothing. They all need to own their SH*T.
I'm going to presume when you speak of "Older Democrats," you are referring to those in Congress, and NOT those older Americans who turned out, not only at the first "Hands Off," protest, but also the two "NO KINGS," protests and, as I write this, coalescing for the third "NO KINGS," protest on SATURDAY, MARCH 28, 2026. Our Dem leadership must get their act together! We must run candidates in every single district especially RED ones with a message the electorate responds to.
One only has to look at WHO also turned out in MN to stand against ICE. Not only was it people in their 30's, and 40's, but it was the women and particularly Boomers. Boomers KNOW how to protest. And yes, even school age children were out there. We did it in the 60's and 70's and had accomplished much--The Voting Rights Act, The Civil Rights Act, Roe vs Wade, and ending the War in Vietnam. We are out there AGAIN. And yet AGAIN, just like we saw 4 die at the hands of our government at Kent State, we see protesters getting shot by our own government again! We VOTED for Obama!
We are mad as hell that we are here now with trump and yet, we will gladly do all the protesting again until this regime comes to a speedy end. The question remains, HOW did we get here after all the sacrifices my generation made? Was it lack of education and knowledge of that history? Was it taking our democracy for granted? The question remains now--HOW MANY will show up, speak out and VOTE like they may never get the chance to vote again! By the way, Obama is now 64, certainly no longer considered "younger," now. But Dems do have a large crop of "progressive" and "moderate" candidates. They just need the funding and the backing of the DNC to run in EVERY single Red district, not just the Blue ones. Sherrod Brown and Dr. Amy Acton are running in Ohio for Senator and Governor. I hope Ohioans realize Ohio was always a "swing state," and we can turn OHIO BLUE AGAIN if every eligible voter turns out to vote.
Hi Roseann, I should have been more clear. You are correct in assuming that I am referring to "OUR" career polititians who obviously have no thought for the future. I am one of your generation and agree that we need to defend what we already fought for. To your question of how we got here.... It seems we took our eye off the ball and emersed ourselves in hard work to survive. I suppose we thought we could trust our elected officials but we were wrong. Many of them have succomed to greed and make excuses for their actions. We also don't verify what we THINK we know and we don't KNOW what we DON'T Know. Instead we believe talking heads or algorithyms that manipulate and control narratives. UGH!!! The "legal" and "illegal" manipulation of elections, the rule of law and the courts has been all part of a long game - hindsight is 20/20 to be sure. We have allowed ourselves to be treated like mushrooms - fed Sh*t and kept in the dark. As far as our political party system goes... in my view the DNC & RNC need to be taken over, we at the very least need stack ranked voting and I question why we even need the Senate. The first president of Tanzania famously quipped, "The United States is also a one-party state, but, with typical American extravagance, they have two of them."
Money in politics - The Citizens United decision - a huge huge manuever by Chief Justice Roberts - has to be overturned NOW! Not to mention the presidential accountability ruling. What a joke that was. There are lots and lots of layers here. And lots and lots of work to do. I could go on but it's dinner time and I assume you get the gist of it. :)
The $$ are going to the pockets of the professional fundraisers. Those that send email every time tump passes gas.. “1. Do you approve of Trump passing gas? 2. Would you prefer tump have less odor? 3. Should congress pass a law restricting Trump from passing gas in public and restrict passing to only cabinet meetings? Send $10 or 20 or $50 to help us introduce this legislation!” Then few hours later here comes same request again! A few of those $ reach beneficial candidates or groups truly working for the people. Largest portion stuffs pockets of the fund raisers……
Great points. But in this day and age, sadly, it's all about charisma and personality.
The average voter doesn't have time to analyze and figure out policy.
How else can you explain Obama, a black man with the middle name Hussein after 9/11 getting elected and reelected.
How else can you explain Gore, Kerry, and Hilary were way more qualified than their opponents, but they were dull. No personality No charisma.
There's way more Democrats than Republicans, but they're working people.
And since election day isn't a holiday in this country, you have to motivate them to go wait in line and vote. And what that takes is a charismatic candidate.
You can talk about policy and politics til your blue in the face. But what really matters is the charisma and personality of the candidate
Brian, this was a fascinating article. The Dems must figure out a new strategy, if we are to win in 2028. And our suffering country will have to look towards the Democrats, because the Republican Party is, or certainly WILL BE in a shambles once Trump and the Magas are GONE.
It makes sense to me, that you, with your gift for finding out the essence of what's needed, in an situation, found an expert in the science of communication, because it's been clear for a long time, that most Democrats fail to communicate. And you, Brian, are a communicator, so your job, right now, is to help the Dems to learn how.
These five steps make perfect sense. And Zohran Mandami is the perfect example for showing that these steps WORK.
Now, if we can just get the Dems to admit that they need to LEARN the lesson of communication! 😉

Also, The financial piece is just a small part of this.
What if DJT is able to nationalize the voting syatem despite the best efforts to stop it? What further steps can be taken to stop this treacherous traitor from dismantling our Democratic Republic and its Constitution rght before our eyes?
What if? If that happens that means the end of democracy; if congress that’s nothing against it, we will be killed if we go to the streets to protest.
It’s time to end this or will be too late 🥲
That’s why Trump has to go NOW. The midterms will be too late.
If the U.S. military armed services still has any backbone left, they could do something about it. If they did, I'm pretty sure that the majority of "WE THE PEOPLE" welcome it.👍

Ffs read your constitution. Right to bear arms was 259 yoars ago. Against the English!!!. Ffs chanange this outdated article. No right.
250. Years. I apologise
Thats okay, Margaret. I got your drift. You are 100% correct. 👍

Never be complacent re trump. Please don't be remotely optimistic until he faces and has imposed upon him. The removal.
I'll be even more optimistic when he's 6' under.
Or in a 6 x 8 cell
Metoo deep down he's fine.
Deep down they're all fine.
I just wish we could get rid of trump and not have to worry about this fight. So many people from other countries won't even come here because of him, ICE, facist president and fascist regime.

I studied American wars of independence as a senior pupil. Hated it. However I'm fascinated by the corruption of American politics today.
It's like driving past a really bad car wreck.

Enjoyed the discussion Bryan.
