Get Rid of Jeffries and Schumer they are to tight with AIPAC and Trump. The people have voted for action not pussy footing around.

AOC for Speaker. Ossoff for leadership of the Senate!

john augustine's avatar

not to mention are already saying that they need to focus on policy not revenge.....going after these criminals in cabinet, congress and white house is NOT revenge but JUSTICE....if they fail on that and do their typical incrementalism on policy, I guarantee another fascist is waiting in the wings to be vomited up in 2028

T lag's avatar

Exactly. It's not revenge. It's justice. I've heard many Republicans say do the crime do the time.

john augustine's avatar

yes and if they don't seek accountability, it encourages these RepubliCONS to continue their crimes as evidenced by the failure of Biden to hold the orange one accountable for his crimes.....look where it got us

Ellen CW's avatar

John, I agree with you. It’s not revenge but justice the people want justice and change. I do not trust Schumer or Jeffries they need to be gone.

...and that fascist in 2028 may be way smarter than Dumpf.

Ossoff is awesome. So glad he won. And of course Talarico and all the other real Americans. 💙💙💙

33RR's avatar

Those two would be great in those positions. Especially Ossoff, it seems that he doesn’t stand for any BS from trumpworld.

100% on Ossoff and other newer, younger, and super capable voices now on the scene; shining stars who can and will work along side and learn from the experienced members in Congress. Don’t fail to recognize and give credit where credit is due… Schumer did a lot of back room work to get Senate candidates to run, raised money for them, and mobilized the campaigning that was essential to getting them elected. Moving forward effectively and quickly without a blending of the old and new is inefficient; time is of the essence. Democrats need to make noise about what is being done… daily. Stop being polite; do not assume constituents will research beyond a Google Search; shout out in detail the behind the scenes processes and accomplishments so actions and successes are clear to everyone. Let’s do this!!

I’ll co-sign Ossoff. They need youth, but also a true orator that can communicate the message loud and clear.

Jsne, I agree that Jeffries and Schumer should be set aside for the reasons you mentioned.

But we must think strategically about their replacements. I love both the people you mentioned, but I can't agree that they would be good choices for leadership of the two bodies.

I think we'd agree that Nancy Pelosi set the Gold Standard for Speaker. As much as I love AOC and agree with all her positions, I don't think she's a good fit for the speakership. She is eloquent, but polarizing. Pelosi is a shrewd, powerful negotiator. I don't think AOC has that talent. There will be bills that need Republican votes and I doubt AOC will get them. At the moment, I can't find a woman in the House who possesses the necessary abilities, but there are several men, including Ro Khanna, Jamie Raskin, Jared Moskowitz and Dan Goldman, any of whom would be more effective than Jeffries.

Ossoff is great and would be an effective Leader. But thinking strategically, I believe he has the presidency in his sights and could very possibly win, leaving a vacancy in the Senate. I can't find a good female candidate in the House, but I do recognize a couple of women in the Senate: Amy Klobuchar or Tammy Duckworth.

Brian, every single word you said. Dems need to listen. We need aggressive leadership, not Chuck Schumer standing at the podium with his glasses half way down his nose and wagging his finger and saying "shame on you" to an empty f*cking room!

I suggest that the first thing the Senate needs to do is find a leader different than Schummer. I know the perfect person. Unfortunately, she will be My Governor. The second thing is to work with returning members from the GOP who narrowly won their re-election to get them to participate in developing effective legislation to move forward on the various issues including the war in Iran.

Get rid of Jeffries also

senator warnock would be my choice

For the past 2 years Democrats have gone after Trump but not gone after the GOP senators and representatives who led him do all the damage he did. Now we have a golden opportunity to tie those politicians to Trump. Pass good legislation that Trump will veto. Congress has the power to override the veto, but if Republicans don't help us use it, pillory them with that, loudly. Why do you think that the voters in 2026 defeated Republican after Republican? Trump wasn't just on the ballot, but also the people who enabled him. This will position us well for 2028.

Brian, first I want to thank you for your stellar reporting on election night. I followed until the wee hours of the morning and was so overjoyed that it continued until I heard Jeffries, Booker and Schumer start talking about only affordability. Yes, that is important, but not without accountability. The democrats can walk and chew gum and much of affordability can be tied to accountability. We need fighters and those 3 are not what we need. I liked your book and hope they read it and the many other books put out for guidance. People are angry and that motivated many to vote and if they cannot read the room, they should step aside.

The regime has weaponized the DOJ into becoming the Department of Vengeance. Accountability is not revenge. It is about restoring and enforcing the rule of law.

Ellen CW's avatar

Right on!! 🎯

Chris S's avatar

Amen to that! There is enough to do and it can be done simultaneously!

Hold this regime accountable and show the people that you care. Trump might veto a lot of this but then be prepared to point to the Republicans who did not help override those vetoes.

Joan MacLeod's avatar

You're 100% correct Brian. They can't slow walk getting accountability for everything Trump, his family, Administration and enablers have done.

Peter Ball's avatar

The democratic new majority need to change the law which allows the president to give a pardon to people who have broken laws. That's a big opportunity to stop the likes of Trump

Chris S's avatar

Unfortunately it’s in the constitution and every attempt to restrict the pardon power will be struck down by the Supreme Court.

Peter Ball's avatar

Then it's time you changed your constitution and got rid of stupid laws like that and the stupid bits about the right to carry arms...

How many criminals will be pardoned and how many children will die

Chris S's avatar

you know how hard it is to change the constitution, you do not only two thirds in both houses but also two thirds of the states to ratify. Even with the current blue wave this is a time consuming and probably futile process

Peter Ball's avatar

Oh, so just carry on

Children die

Rapist's are allowed to hide their crimes

????!!!!!

So something about it

There constitution needs changing. It was written for the time, not now

Ann Beyer's avatar

We need campaign reform as well. No billionaires or corporations should be allowed to donate more to their candidate of choice than I can. And we need to break up all the monopolies Trump has allowed, especially the media monopolies.

Supersteeler's avatar

The first thing that needs to happen is get rid of Jeffries and Schumer. They will work against what the people want because they are bought and paid for by the 1%.

Ponytale's avatar

Undo Project 2025 - particularly Chapter 16 - The Department of the interior. The land grab/leasing up will go unabated until we cut them off from degrading our beloved public lands.

Vanessa Timko's avatar

We gave them a mandate for accountability and oversight! Get Jeffries on and explain to him those are not the same as revenge and retribution!! Stop using republican words!

BO'K's avatar

My suggestion for when they are seated in January is to not elect Hakeem as Speaker and not elect Schumer as Senate majority.. Hakeem scares me with his tech sponsors and his secret meetings with Kushner. Schumer is a corporatist who needs to retire..

T lag's avatar

Totally agree. Shumer and Jeffries were not strong leaders get them out. Let's not forget van hollen as a strong senator

33RR's avatar

Exactly. America now needs to start repairing all the damage, failures, and disasters of trumpworld as well as holding every single orange criminal accountable, including family members and those that were either fired or quit.
