Too many of us watched the insurrection live for them to get away with whitewashing the events of that day. The GOP forgets, or doesn’t care, that a large majority of us also followed the Congressional Committee hearings, and agreed with its findings.

Actually watched all day that day and for days later also watched the hearings.

We all saw January 6 unfold in real time. No amount of revisionism can erase what millions of Americans witnessed, nor the exhaustive evidence presented by the bipartisan January 6 Committee. Pretending it didn’t happen—or that it was something else entirely—doesn’t change the facts. Accountability matters, and most Americans know it.

Exactly right. I have a strong feeling the cowardly President “JP Mandell” will restore everything after public pressure forces him too. Remember: Vance is a chameleon by trade!

Vance has changed his name four different times! He’s actually more dangerous than Trump because he’s younger and healthier, but he is also just a dictator in waiting ready to carry out Project 2025’s manifesto.

Fortunately for us, he has all the charisma of a saltine.

Exactly. The constant reinvention isn’t growth—it’s opportunism. What makes Vance especially dangerous isn’t just his alignment with Trumpism, but the fact that he packages authoritarian ideas in a younger, more disciplined, and more strategic form. He’s openly embraced Project 2025’s agenda, which is less about governance and more about consolidating power. That’s not leadership—it’s a roadmap to eroding democracy.

I hope not. We, collectively, need to remember what an asshole he was as a reminder not to let this problem happen again. And his pathological lying is a big part of that problem. So, whereas we cannot allow his lies to be part of the official historical record, neither can we afford to erase them completely.

Fair point. I shouldn’t have painted a broad brush. Was really referring to taking his shitty name off of everything, reversing all of his bullshit EO’s, destroying his ballroom, and putting back all the historical references that he’s bastardized. As for the rest, it needs to be taught in every school and referenced in every history book so every human being born from this point forward knows what happened with this fucking prick.

And its electoral system, social, economic and cultural values..., and the Constitution. No one and nothing in the U.S. has been of any real use in keeping Trump and those like him (e.g., Nixon, Regan, the Bushes, Trump) out of the White House and causing the invasion of U.S. cities by Trumpist militias; invading other countries, such as, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Venezuela, and many, many other acts of imperialism and totalitarianism. The U.S. will need to overhaul everything U.S. if it is to survive as at least a semi-moral/rational democratic state. For example, refraining from bullying, invading countries which don't toe the U.S. line; consistently challenging the idea that the U.S.'s genocide and Imperialism/conquest are the marks of a great country in the h 21st Century. Hitlerism, for for example, did a much more thorough job of destroying Europe, - to Make Germany Great Again - than the U.S. ever has, but is that what the U.S. is supposed to be about? to stop.

I hope you in the U.S. will decide to refrain from trying to beat Hitler, Mussolini, Tojo's... records in inflicting horror on to the world, for your sakes and the world's; but so far it's basically words and asserting intentions to do something some time or other, so not much real room for hope, is there?

January 6, 2021 is the first time I ever watched the certification of the election; my gut had a feeling something bad was going to happen and it did. I will never forget or forgive ANYONE involved in this travesty, much like I will never forget nor will I forgive whomever voted for this lying traitor.

The idiom "Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining" certainly applies regarding dt's latest online garbage regarding Jan 6th.! All this while using taxpayer money! I will never forget watching that insurrection and crying my eyes out for hours while praying for the real victims at the Capitol. All the while, dt's lack of calling them off or calling in the DC National Guard was obviously part of his plan and pleasure!! Jack Smith knows it all and he has the facts and the receipts!!! Thank you Brian for your strength and truth in reporting! 🙏 🙏 💕 💕

Absolutely. Watching that day unfold was heartbreaking, and it’s unconscionable that those in power tried to gaslight the nation while real people were in danger. Jack Smith’s work is crucial—he’s laying out the facts with clarity and accountability. Thank you for standing strong, Brian, and for reporting the truth. We cannot forget what happened, and we must continue to honor the victims and seek justice. 🙏💖

Trump is so delusional one can only guess at what he really thinks. But I do know this: he understands he is hated and it enrages him. No matter how many countries he attacks, how many enemies he punishes, it will never be enough. He'll never have real credibility or respect; He'll always be viewed as an anomaly, a black mark on our country's history. That's why he's so angry. He knows Obama and Biden will always be revered and loved. No one loves Trump, not his wife, not his children and certainly not Republican leaders.

Your writing is just outstanding! No wonder I enjoyed your book so much,,!

I am hoping you will write more, especially since I remember how proud you were of the first one. This subject, Jan sixth, fact or fiction, maybe,?

Anyway, you made such good points. I spent almost 3 hours at Jim Acosta and Glenn's tribute to the men of Jan sixth who were such heroes. It was the most inspiring thing I have seen in recent days. So I am a bit tired. I will re-read this article when I have more energy. It's definitely worth re-read! You are such a GOOD writer, Brian!

My son, also named Brion, died unexpectedly of heart failure, just two months after Trump took office for the first time. Brion was not a writer like you were, but he was a lifelong crusader for what was right. When he was four years old, he saw the Rodney King video, where King was being beaten by the four white police from LAPD. Brion was visiting his conservative father and grandfather. He said that the beating was WRONG. Nothing they said would make him change his mind. When my ex called me to tell me about it, he said I should quit programming Brion, because "it just made them mad "

When I told him that I had not yet said ANYTHING to Bri, because of his age, my ex was even angrier. But Brion, like yourself, I would imagine, cared deeply about people, and always wanted to help those who were disadvantaged. Sometimes when I listen to your talks, I can't help thinking of him, because of the name (Brion, though spelled different,) and because you both care/cared about helping others, and no one can change your mind! 😉

Thanks for letting me share about my boy. I miss him, because he would have been one hell of a fighter against Trump, who he detested. In your book, I believe you said that your mom was proud of you too.

You deserve it so much. I will up the subscription level soon. Because you are making such an amazing difference in this country.

Yes, he was an amazing person. And I do think he's quite active in assisting us in the fight against the poison of Trump. He was almost 33 when he died and a number of people who he helped in FB wrote to say they'd miss him. His now-maga father didn't understand how so many people would have known Brion that well. But I was very proud. I learned that being a success was not really about how much money or power you've amassed; it's whether you help to make the world a better place. So I was happy that my son was that kind of a success. Thank you so much for sending me those good wishes because when we are dealing with the level of horror that Trump and Miller are unleashing, I miss my son because he always understood what REALLY matters!

I watched as Pamela Hemphill profusely apologized to the Capital Police Officers who were present at her Committee hearing. She courageously admitted that she believed trump's lies and gave credit to those police officers she said "saved my life," on that horrible day. She is the ONLY ONE who has admitted that what she and the others did by descending on the Capital, and causing the violence prompted by trump, was wrong. She is the ONLY ONE who DECLINED a trump pardon. She was charged with a misdemeanor of Trespassing and served a 60 day sentence in prison, 36 months probation and ordered to pay a $500 restitution fine.

Many of the other 1,599 Insurrectionists were charged with far more serious crimes including 14 members of the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys who were charged with assault or obstructing law enforcement officers and seeing their 20-year sentences commuted to time served. An additional 170 were charged with use of a deadly weapon, along with all the others who were granted "full, complete, and unconditional pardons."

We all saw what happened that day and as soon as this administration is gone, we must make sure that the history books tell the TRUTH about the events on that day. But more important, we MUST hold the one person who has yet to be held responsible for his actions and words prior to and the day of and the days after, 01/06/2021. We must NEVER FORGET!
