At this point, I believe our Constitution and democracy are simply performative. We are a fascist authoritarian regime and there are no real consequences for corruption. I am embarrassed by what this country has become but I have no place else to go. I have grown children relatively close by and probably only 20 more good years in me. I just want to be near my family, so I’m not going anywhere. But I also no longer take pride in who we are as a country and that’s both disappointing and sad.
