Is CBS looking to become a shit channel like FOX? When the MADMAN IN THE WH falls….and he will , I promise you that….they will all be nothing-burgers!

LEJ's avatar

They already ARE a sh*t channel! They need to all shrivel up from lack of viewers.

No Handle!'s avatar

Oh, my! Loss of Viewers=Loss of Money! Could evolve into non-existence!

Dana Devalera's avatar

People have the absolute right not to pay for a service that no longer serves their values or beliefs in objective journalism. It's not about Bezos. They know he stays wealthy. It's personal choice no matter what happens to the business. They could take that money and put it towards something they believe serves their interests. The free market serves the consumer also. No one has an obligation to make sure high earners keep their job. How does anyone Not understand that reality.

Foosball's avatar

Are you being serious?

Bezos lost $100 million since he bought the Washington Post,

And now you believe by canceling your subscription is going to hurt Jeff in his pocketbook?

The only thing that happened is 1000 people lost their ability to have a living wage?

I’m more than certain that they’re never gonna find a job that pays as well as the job they had.

I still have no idea why so many people who had subscriptions, I believe it was 300,000 subscribers are now directly complicit in the loss of all those men and women who are now not going to be able to find employment.

I understand how powerful it made people feel to cancel their subscriptions because they do not like Jeff Bezos, but none of those people thought about the multitude of people that are now unemployed.

No Handle!'s avatar

I didn’t have to cancel Washington Post or New Yorker as I never had them. No local newspapers either. I was livid that my parents had subscribed at a $150 year pop back in 2000 to the local paper. After my mom died, I tried to cancel because they still kept delivering those bleep, bleep newspapers. I lived a day away and had to get somebody to go by her house, pick them up and toss. A complete pain! There was absolutely no sense to that debacle. And, at that point the whole staff could have been dismissed as far as I was concerned. And, that idiot on the phone could not hear me at all. And, I have lived most of my life without cable, too!

Foosball's avatar

Cool , Im a big proponent of live and let live. The Dems despise that people are given a choice of how to live.

One way or another this will hash itself out. But will it be a peaceful Transition? Only time will tell.

Teresa L.'s avatar

That is just a lie. The people who despise people having choice about how they live tend to be MAGA and fundamentalist, evangelicals. They hate many groups of people: immigrants, whom they love calling illegals, lgbtq2s+ people, but especially Transwomen, because men on right are obsessed with how the penis gets dealt with, people of color-especially black Americans are insulted, discriminated against. Then, the Christian Nationalists with their phony prayers and shoving Bible verses in everyone's faces. It's absurd, your statement about democrats. Incredibly ignorant comment.

LaQuita's avatar

You can't giving a bad news channel business. Sorry about loss of jobs - but no one says sorry when AI takes a job!

Foosball's avatar

Well, I guess the blue collar management jobs won’t really care.

Teresa L.'s avatar

LaQuita, don't feel guilty for even one minute. These actions are exactly what is meant by market forces. Consumers are a market force in capitalists consumer economy. And if billionaires and their bitches make crappy decisions and produce shitty journalism or other products or services, we are not obliged to purchase them. The responsibility is on the business leadership, not the consumers. And if we all boycotted these businesses, these rich, greedy people would have to take notice. I've bocotted Amazon, target, and mainstream media since DTs inaguration, when the rich were falling over each other to give him money for his inaguration. Skipped that too. Can not stand to see that creature or hear him speak. Guess I'm boycotting this horrible presidency too.

Foosball's avatar

I’ve been in a trade for 30 years: I watched how many liberals and some Republicans tell us that free traders, the greatest thing in the world.

And then all of a sudden, in the United States factories were gutted. well right now it looks like people like you white collar are suddenly afraid of competition.

Myself I’m not worried/people always need men like us.

Teresa L.'s avatar

Do you despise or feel jealous of white collar workers? The working class is the working class, no matter what the collar classification. I have great respect for Trades people, both men and Women. And factories weren't suddenly gutted. They were intentionally moved to China to avoid paying union wages and having to follow EPA regulations. U.S.A. made China the power house it is today. They're rising as we decline. Free trade and NAFTA were later, and just another means of moving more manufacturing to cheap labor in Mexico, S. America, etc. The ruling class in this country has been screwing working people over since the 1500s up to today. It affects all of us. I hope you have a union and a decent wage. DT is hell bent on enriching himself by taking it out of our tax money. He is likely to destroy the economy before he's through with his grifting.

Teresa L.'s avatar

Foosball, I don't care about bezos or Bari Weiss. I canceled wapo because of refusal to support Kamala Harris. I no longer watch any mainstream news except NPR. Bari Weiss just seems like a souless witch. Don't blame consumers canceling subscriptions for layoffs. Blame the billionaire owners and their greed. Their asskissing and deal making with Trump. Their AI fever dreams have them ditching employees everywhere. Mark Fuckerberg came to Seattle on his 800,000 dollar yacht, which costs some thousands of dollars to fuel, in order to layoff employees at the Seattle location. I am so done with these tech bros and their plans to rule the world. They're out of touch and thoroughly disgusting people. I don't know why so many American men seem to worship these perks. If you're rich, you must be a genius. Yeah, right.

Look at the programming...

FBI CIA CSI and numerous spinoffs.

Bootlicking all . the . way . down

Pguidty's avatar

Yup! I would say that is the Ellison plan! Weis will run its news division, into the ground, in trying to make it a profitable propaganda channel. Just like Gnome’s puppy, if they can’t get CBS, to be what they want , they will shoot it.

Mike Hammer's avatar

They’re trying to do as much damage to the Democratic system as possible before the midterms and we take control back

Paul McElveen's avatar

Teresa L.'s avatar

Me too, Paul. I'm with you and there are many of us doing the work.

Tari Coleman's avatar

I love some of their Series on CBS and I feel bad for watching 🤷‍♀️. But I watch ABC for Network News, or follow on Substack.

Foosball's avatar

Time will tell, it saddens me that 300,000 people canceled their subscriptions to the Washington Post, which is now one less voice in the wilderness to report on what is happening in the United States.

This is the most crazy self-inflicted self-destructive movement that I have ever seen in my life.

The right way would’ve been to right to the paper regarding how we are not happy about those decisions that Jeff Bezos made to try to impact what with the readers do not like.

You completely gave up all the little power we had to try to influence the Washington Post.

Because everybody jumped on the bandwagon of canceling their subscriptions, which I might add was probably what Jeff Bezos wanted, we now have zero journalist that might have found its way into so many people who read the paper.

Now, so many people just complain about the situation they created.?

As a union leader in the trades , I will ask you to please try to think about your decision that directly affect the lives of thousands of people.

Be safe

Gail Shields-Miller's avatar

It’s interesting to debate if Bezos would have kept those people on anyway…or if those people would have all stayed. I think Bezos has been killing WAPO with little murders…ever since he decided to kiss Trumps’s ssa.

RobsSister's avatar

death by a thousand cuts

Foosball's avatar

Well, he lost $100 million trying to kiss the asses of the left. let’s see what you do when you started a paper I can lose even $1 million a year. Talk to me after that happens. Right now you’re just Bloviating

LaQuita's avatar

THE Washington Post is just a Rightwinged Rag like Newsmax. I don't blame people for cancelling.

Foosball's avatar

I strongly suggest all leftist to cancel the Washington Post,. I think it’s high time that the left tell Jeff Bezos, who is really in charge of the United States..

Now, if you could only get another 25 million Americans to cancel Amazon on top of the hundred thousand who have canceled the Washington Post then three cheers. Hip hip hooray, hip hip hooray hip hip hooray..

Now don’t you feel better, La Quinta.😎😎😎. 🌮🇲🇽💃 Felix de cinco de Mayo.

Teresa L.'s avatar

The Washington Post was never "kissing the lefts ass". Publications like Dissent, Mother Jones, Jacobin are examples of left leaning publications. Our Main stream news sources are not left leaning. Most Americans are very uninformed or uneducated about our economic system,-capitalism, which is a class system where the workers create everything, while the owners keep the profits. So, yeah. Go on and blame the working people who chose to cancel a subscription for layoffs chosen by a greedy billionaire.

Betsy Groth's avatar

The Washington Post went from a great newspaper to bird cage liner pretty quickly. Stopped my subscription about 3 years ago. Owned by Bezos, the obscenely greedy big buddy-roo of the psychopath trump.

Foosball's avatar

Time to make him pay / stop amazon/ stop face book /stop musk.

If 100.000 Die hard liberals stick together it will be glorious

Pguidty's avatar

What’s worse, filtered news 🗞️ coverage and biased reporting or no news at all??

I would rather have the W Post go under, than have a pro biased right wing paper, you cannot trust, like the New York post.

It is sad, but the moment Bozo, began filtering its content, it lost all credibility.

Teresa L.'s avatar

And that was his bad decision. Not on anyone else.

Foosball's avatar

Seems you are heartless on all the people who worked there no longer have a job.

Sad but true

Teresa L.'s avatar

Why are you so worried about it? Microsoft layoffs. Facebook layoffs.Amazon layoffs. WAPO layoffs. Did you care about the thousands of federal workers laid off and fired for no reason by effing DOGE? Crying for all of them too? If not, you are a gigantic hypocrite!

Foosball's avatar

Federal workers don’t get laid off/lick it by outs.

Next

Teresa L.'s avatar

OMG. Quit crying over Jeff's money and laid off journalists. Are you a subscriber? If you get your friends to join you and all the MAGAts subscribe YOU can save your friend Jeff Bezos and help get those workers rehired. Get out there and quit crying and blaming others who choose not to subscribe.

Foosball's avatar

Well there you go, Stop bitching about it.

Foosball's avatar

Well, it only cost them 600 million. What’s a few dollars here and there?

It’s still boggles my mind their own subscription readers we’re rooting for the paper to fail.

It just seems shortsighted to me that you had a paper that more or less gave you everything you wanted for 10 years/when you could’ve kept it going, but with just a 50-50 editorial page, but still would have your liberal viewpoints printed.

But when you’re looking in the mirror, you can gladly say that you lost the paper that was at a minimum I’m gonna give you 50% of your view point every day.

On the other hand, you can go to almost any far leftist this site and get the viewpoints that support your ideals.

Obviously, the right also has their sources that do the same thing just in the opposite direction.

I consider myself somebody who’s write down the middle and I appreciate all sides of the story.

I still don’t understand why the left is so adamant about transvestites who are the tiny minority of the country and yet the Democrats just can’t seem to get past the state of California, which is willing to allow prisoners to have surgery that cost a half $1 million dollars.

Be safe

naejsllim's avatar

Facts, Foosball, Facts. How about some links to your claims? When you spout off like that but don't provide the receipts, it stays unbelievable.

Foosball's avatar

Here’s a fact, President Trump is a loud arrogant Blow hard, and yet the left still sticks to their tried and true platforms of hating successful people/hating heterosexual men and women/really hating white, successful, hard-working people/ and loving blue haired / nose pierced with bones freaks of human nature.

NEXT

I want to tell you that I really appreciate that you find me as a racist, homophobic white male.

What you don’t understand is you have created your worst nightmare and now it’s too late. Your words mean nothing to me. Not only do they not scare me I relish them.

LaQuita's avatar

I disagree - you can write all you want if nothing is done to hurt the bottom line - nothing will happen.

Foosball's avatar

You can write all you want, not sure how that makes us any different. Well, you might think yourself to be so much better than everybody else so that you justified violence as an end to the means.

You might wanna reconsider your opinion

LaQuita's avatar

FACE IT - Trump hates anyone who stands up to him. He must have something on all the Repubs in Congress!

Foosball's avatar

Well said La Quinta. Are you the maintenance guy smoke cigarettes outside those hotels every day.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m all about Personal liberty and if you wanna smoke cigarettes have at it..

Foosball's avatar

Thank you, La Quinta Inn

LaQuita's avatar

So it is okay to be trampled on by corruption - like Trump - believe his lies and let it go? Name calling? Well, Foosball, that is what you are a NUT.

Foosball's avatar

As your therapist, I strongly consider a long weekend to yourself.

If we can be honest, both of us know, you are single and lonely. My suggestion is a long weekend in Tijuana., plenty of tequila, more margaritas, and as many tacos, as you can eat in one sitting.😇😇😇

Foosball's avatar

I’m just being honest.

M ML's avatar

The owners of these pallets do not care about public opinion. They bought these papers specifically to ruin them.

Foosball's avatar

I guess that plan didn’t work out. Did Bezos lose 400 million and eight years.

Might want to think about a different strategy

naejsllim's avatar

As a citizen trying to survive, I ask you to rethink your decision to support the likes of Bezos and their companies. He is compadres with and supports the likes of Felon 47 and Muskrat who have directly and negatively affected millions ... TENS OF MILLIONS ... of people. It's their policies, rules, ambitions that do massive damage to our country and world. If you wouldn't support the likes of Hitler, Putin, Xi, etc., Bozo, dRumpstein, Muskrat, etc. are just extensions.

Honestly, I think everyone needs to start looking behind the curtains to see who they work for, what causes that company supports, when the corporation chooses to get politically involved, why they are in business, and exactly how they plan to achieve its goals. These details are going to carry more and more weight as time marches on. Companies used to have moral consciousness and it was a matter of pride for an employee to represent them. That mindset no longer automatically exists on either side.

Gail Shields-Miller's avatar

It is very sad and unfortunate to debate the loss of jobs at WAPO….but Bezos didn’t set a trap…he just made up his mind to no longer care about”Democracy Dying in Darkness” and more about kissing Trump’s you know what ….he chose complicity over the readership of WAPO and did a 360! If he really cared about the USA he would have supported the nomination of Kamala Harris and not hired Lewis as the publisher! The Washington Post’s evisceration at the hands of its billionaire owner, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, didn’t have to happen….you’re seeing what had been an institution that had really benefited from his ownership for a good long time that seems to have gone into reverse in a way that particularly aligns with the way that the political winds in Washington have blown for the last few years “ .It’s hard to support a newspaper that no longer supports your ideas about what the USA should be …a Democracy…and would rather support the Madman in the WH and his autocratic government…and truthfully, Bezos/ WAPO doesn’t deserve our support. Nor do any businesses that support autocracy over democracy!

Sheryl Lynn Mackenzie's avatar

Bezos does not give a flying F about Americans!

CBS has become Fox Lite. That was after all why it was taken over and Weiss handed the reins. Serious journalism and investigative reporting? Don’t look there for it. Serious news comes from other sources now.

chris lemon's avatar

Fox makes buckets of money. They are highly successful, if you ignore the destruction of US democracy part.

Terry's avatar

I watch a local news channel for weather only. I don't watch any of the "news". I haven't for well over a decade, National news has been more like 2 decades. I guess I'm not missing a thing. You couldn't pay me to watch faux noise.

chris lemon's avatar

Fox news is like professional wrestling for people who can read.

Terry's avatar

Do they really call it "professional" wrestling? The fake stuff, where, John Stossel doing a report for some network, asked 1 of the guys wearing a speedo about the fakeness of it. The dude clapped him in the ear, Stossel lost his hearing in that ear. Remember that? I'm probably showing my age here....lol

chris lemon's avatar

Same stuff. Used to be WWF, now called WWE. Makes you stupider being in the same room it's playing, even if you're not watching.
