Is CBS looking to become a shit channel like FOX? When the MADMAN IN THE WH falls….and he will , I promise you that….they will all be nothing-burgers!

LEJ's avatar

They already ARE a sh*t channel! They need to all shrivel up from lack of viewers.

No Handle!'s avatar

Oh, my! Loss of Viewers=Loss of Money! Could evolve into non-existence!

Dana Devalera's avatar

People have the absolute right not to pay for a service that no longer serves their values or beliefs in objective journalism. It's not about Bezos. They know he stays wealthy. It's personal choice no matter what happens to the business. They could take that money and put it towards something they believe serves their interests. The free market serves the consumer also. No one has an obligation to make sure high earners keep their job. How does anyone Not understand that reality.

Foosball's avatar

Are you being serious?

Bezos lost $100 million since he bought the Washington Post,

And now you believe by canceling your subscription is going to hurt Jeff in his pocketbook?

The only thing that happened is 1000 people lost their ability to have a living wage?

I’m more than certain that they’re never gonna find a job that pays as well as the job they had.

I still have no idea why so many people who had subscriptions, I believe it was 300,000 subscribers are now directly complicit in the loss of all those men and women who are now not going to be able to find employment.

I understand how powerful it made people feel to cancel their subscriptions because they do not like Jeff Bezos, but none of those people thought about the multitude of people that are now unemployed.

No Handle!'s avatar

I didn’t have to cancel Washington Post or New Yorker as I never had them. No local newspapers either. I was livid that my parents had subscribed at a $150 year pop back in 2000 to the local paper. After my mom died, I tried to cancel because they still kept delivering those bleep, bleep newspapers. I lived a day away and had to get somebody to go by her house, pick them up and toss. A complete pain! There was absolutely no sense to that debacle. And, at that point the whole staff could have been dismissed as far as I was concerned. And, that idiot on the phone could not hear me at all. And, I have lived most of my life without cable, too!

Foosball's avatar

Cool , Im a big proponent of live and let live. The Dems despise that people are given a choice of how to live.

One way or another this will hash itself out. But will it be a peaceful Transition? Only time will tell.

Pguidty's avatar

Yup! I would say that is the Ellison plan! Weis will run its news division, into the ground, in trying to make it a profitable propaganda channel. Just like Gnome’s puppy, if they can’t get CBS, to be what they want , they will shoot it.

Mike Hammer's avatar

They’re trying to do as much damage to the Democratic system as possible before the midterms and we take control back

Paul McElveen's avatar

WE WILL! I have Never been a mindless sheep that follows the herd! I am lifelong conscious objector and progressive democrat! I Boycott! I RELENTLESLY call and email Governors, Large Corporations, Politicians, Representatives, and Senators! I Join Organizations! I Peacefully Protest! I Vote in Every Single Election!

Tari Coleman's avatar

I love some of their Series on CBS and I feel bad for watching 🤷‍♀️. But I watch ABC for Network News, or follow on Substack.

Foosball's avatar

Time will tell, it saddens me that 300,000 people canceled their subscriptions to the Washington Post, which is now one less voice in the wilderness to report on what is happening in the United States.

This is the most crazy self-inflicted self-destructive movement that I have ever seen in my life.

The right way would’ve been to right to the paper regarding how we are not happy about those decisions that Jeff Bezos made to try to impact what with the readers do not like.

You completely gave up all the little power we had to try to influence the Washington Post.

Because everybody jumped on the bandwagon of canceling their subscriptions, which I might add was probably what Jeff Bezos wanted, we now have zero journalist that might have found its way into so many people who read the paper.

Now, so many people just complain about the situation they created.?

As a union leader in the trades , I will ask you to please try to think about your decision that directly affect the lives of thousands of people.

Be safe

Gail Shields-Miller's avatar

It’s interesting to debate if Bezos would have kept those people on anyway…or if those people would have all stayed. I think Bezos has been killing WAPO with little murders…ever since he decided to kiss Trumps’s ssa.

RobsSister's avatar

death by a thousand cuts

Foosball's avatar

Well, he lost $100 million trying to kiss the asses of the left. let’s see what you do when you started a paper I can lose even $1 million a year. Talk to me after that happens. Right now you’re just Bloviating

M ML's avatar

The owners of these pallets do not care about public opinion. They bought these papers specifically to ruin them.

Foosball's avatar

I guess that plan didn’t work out. Did Bezos lose 400 million and eight years.

Might want to think about a different strategy

Tim Warriner's avatar

I don’t even watch clips taken/shared/touched from or by CBS

Robyn Leith Stewart's avatar

I don't watch CBS at all any longer. I also have boycotted its parent company, Paramount. Hard to do, because they sometimes have some good programming, but they must learn the people have the power.

Tim Warriner's avatar

You don’t watch CBS any longer? I hope you don’t watch it all!

Robyn Leith Stewart's avatar

Did I say anything different? Go take a nap. 😆

Donna's avatar

They have all been bought out by out by Trumps buddy. We will have to stay mainly with podcasters.

Paul McElveen's avatar

I HAVE BOYCOTTED CBS Completely!

Vindictus's avatar

Yes, they want all of those viewers

Jacobs-Meadway Roberta's avatar

CBS has become Fox Lite. That was after all why it was taken over and Weiss handed the reins. Serious journalism and investigative reporting? Don’t look there for it. Serious news comes from other sources now.

chris lemon's avatar

Fox makes buckets of money. They are highly successful, if you ignore the destruction of US democracy part.

Terry's avatar

I watch a local news channel for weather only. I don't watch any of the "news". I haven't for well over a decade, National news has been more like 2 decades. I guess I'm not missing a thing. You couldn't pay me to watch faux noise.

chris lemon's avatar

Fox news is like professional wrestling for people who can read.

Terry's avatar

Do they really call it "professional" wrestling? The fake stuff, where, John Stossel doing a report for some network, asked 1 of the guys wearing a speedo about the fakeness of it. The dude clapped him in the ear, Stossel lost his hearing in that ear. Remember that? I'm probably showing my age here....lol

chris lemon's avatar

Same stuff. Used to be WWF, now called WWE. Makes you stupider being in the same room it's playing, even if you're not watching.

Paul McElveen's avatar

HAS Always Been Stupid! I can't believe people pay to see that stuff or watch it!

Lynne's avatar

You could watch the weather channel instead. Just sain.

Gail Shields-Miller's avatar

It is very sad and unfortunate to debate the loss of jobs at WAPO….but Bezos didn’t set a trap…he just made up his mind to no longer care about”Democracy Dying in Darkness” and more about kissing Trump’s you know what ….he chose complicity over the readership of WAPO and did a 360! If he really cared about the USA he would have supported the nomination of Kamala Harris and not hired Lewis as the publisher! The Washington Post’s evisceration at the hands of its billionaire owner, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, didn’t have to happen….you’re seeing what had been an institution that had really benefited from his ownership for a good long time that seems to have gone into reverse in a way that particularly aligns with the way that the political winds in Washington have blown for the last few years “ .It’s hard to support a newspaper that no longer supports your ideas about what the USA should be …a Democracy…and would rather support the Madman in the WH and his autocratic government…and truthfully, Bezos/ WAPO doesn’t deserve our support. Nor do any businesses that support autocracy over democracy!

Patxi T Madera's avatar

Not becoming, all the way past and gaining, needs cancelling!!!

Damian's avatar

You bet! It is a foreign country satellite as is the Free Press.

Truth does not matter. Mind control does to her.

Rose (WNY via OH/OR/MA/FL/CO)'s avatar

They already are nothing-burgers at my home. The moment they canceled Stephen Colbert, we stopped watching CBS, including my formerly favorite shows 60 Minutes and the Sunday Morning Show (we still stream Colbert). What is incomprehensible is how CBS plans to remain sustainable, sharing the already limited viewership with Fox. Hmmm… I surely hope my taxes don’t end subsidizing both networks!

Foosball's avatar

I will never understand why so many people canceled their subscriptions which in turn resulted in 1000 people being laid off from their jobs.

I understand why people were upset, but by canceling your subscriptions, you caused the elimination of over 1000 people who had well paying jobs.

I don’t think people understand that Jeff Bezos to obviously isn’t one of the nicest people on the planet took this opportunity to layoff so many people.

Certainly, it made many people feel powerful, but what is the cost of the actions that 300,000 readers are to blame for so many middle class workers?

Looking at this from the outside with zero bias only seems to confirm that the loss of all jobs was just a set up in order to fire them.

Sure, you feel as if you’re sticking it to the man!

But look at the cost now. Do you think it’s gonna be possible for them to find a job as a journalist?

I absolutely believe that there was no way Jeff Bezos was going to eliminate 1000 jobs at the Washington Post until you gave him a free pass to do so.

It’s as if he set up a trap and 300,000 people fell for it. I genuinely feel for the all the journalists that have now lost their livelihood and have absolutely no place to turn to find a job that was paying as well as the Washington post did.

I am begging the subscribers to rethink the scorched earth policy that has now led into so many journalist will have no alternative to replace the jobs they once had.

Rose (WNY via OH/OR/MA/FL/CO)'s avatar

I see your point, Foosball. However, under the current critical circumstances, I believe my voice is heard the loudest when I use (or not use) my hard-earned money as a means of endorsing causes that align with my convictions and what I know to be right. I truly regret that many journalists have lost their jobs, but I guarantee you that if they are REAL journalists, most of them would have eventually resigned rather than subserviently cater to the agendas of billionaire, faux news propagandists.

Foosball's avatar

I guess they should’ve chosen a different career then.

Exactly. Why? $$$$$$$

New York’s Mamdani is brave, wise and ethical. Tis Californian supports him enthusiastically.

I’d like to give a shout out for the good works Hawaii’s own Senators Mazie Hirono and Brian Schatz, and the Congressional Representative for my District, Jill Tokuda, are doing to save our Country.

Diane Lee's avatar

We definitely need more Mamdani's in government all over the country and especially in Washington DC.

Diane Lee's avatar

I wish Mamdani were a US citizen so that he could run for President. It would be the beginning of repairing the country and taking care of our people.

Robyn Leith Stewart's avatar

He is a citizen, but he was not born here. You can't run for president if you weren't born here.

Diane Lee's avatar

I know this. I meant a US born citizen, I didn't think I had to clarify that aspect. 😒

So does this Brooklynite.

She is a Zionist!

Kim Arneson's avatar

I will continue to have 'coffee with Colbert' but once he's done, nothing more for corporate controlled media.

We'll continue to support Rachel Maddow but otherwise, it's independent media all the way.

Thank you, Brian, for all you are & all you do!

Paul McElveen's avatar

DEFINATELY! Last Word with Laurence O'Donnel ON MSNOW! Late Night with Jimmy Kimmel on ABC!

Marlene Lerner-Bigley (CA)'s avatar

Throw Nicolle Wallace in there too!

MM Harris's avatar

I've been wondering what her current ratings vs original have been (but frankly don't waste my time even googling; she's not worth it and I stopped watching ANYTHING CBS once she came on board).

Real Apprentice's avatar

Bari Weiss didn’t boost ratings, she just redefined the target audience to “whoever still confuses opinion with journalism.” Turns out most American's don't appreciate being gaslit and lied to.

levi curtis's avatar

Bari Weiss is trump useful dweeb. Her nazi approach to tv has proven disastrous. Add her to the list of nazi co-conspirators that will be heading to the guillotines. As was said before, “ off with their head(s)”

Mr. BroDangles's avatar

Fascist much? 🤣🤣

Paul McElveen's avatar

Bari Weiss is STUPID!

Larry J's avatar

Definitely boycott ALL businesses that advertise on these platforms.

Real Apprentice's avatar

She very much gives Ursula energy — making deals in the shadows, then calling it “just giving you a voice.”

Already on it! I refuse to support enablers of Dump and his dumpsters!!!

Is there a point at which a tool becomes responsible for the hand that wields it, or does the tool get to keep its reputation for independence while doing the wielding?

Well said. And true. She is vile

Sunshine's avatar

Just another motive to boycott CBS, completely, not just a few presentations and shows, and to support Substack and it's authors. Stay strong.

Jim Gulick's avatar

Yes, except The Late Night with Stephen Colbert until its scheduled cancellation in May.

Colleen Wetteland's avatar

Totally agree! I hope Stephen does a similar show here at sub stack or you tube even.

Sunshine's avatar

I didn't think about that, thanks!

Josie Esquivel's avatar

My cable TV has 160+ stations! I'll bet we could find a few to pick up the fabulous Stephen Colbert!

Reality based's avatar

Yes, when Colbert exits, I will LMAO if their viewership craters.

Sally's avatar

I've always enjoyed CBS Sunday Morning. My conscious tells me I can live without it. Such a shame. I don't get why people don't see what's going on here and he and his cult is not going to last. And boycotting works. Ask ABC/Disney.

Sandra Myers's avatar

You should interview him on YouTube or the @MeidasTouchNetwork should. Certainly Reuters or international news media would be happy to interview him.

Elaine's avatar

i’d rather see it on BTC because I like the questions he asks…

Thomas Locatell's avatar

I saw him on Meidas before the election. He's charismatic for sure.

MM Harris's avatar

and super smart..... I think he was born in Kampala so ineligible for the presidency at some point... too bad, because one can see his potential; maybe important high level advisory or cabinet positions down the line? She's a joke in comparison..

Diane Lee's avatar

I'd love to see Mamdani as President, I think he'd be outstanding. 💙

Dana Schindler's avatar

Well the fascist agenda has managed to remove truth in journalism from even more news media. Thanks for your work!

Thomas A. Snyder's avatar

I'm a 67-year old staunch viewer and *past* admirer of all CBS News has stood for since I became politically active in my early teens. I boycott all of CBS News now as long as Weiss is flushing their reputation down the porcelain throne. Larry and David Ellison are autocratic vipers who at all costs must be denied the WBD and CNN assets.

Beverly Wilson's avatar

Me too on the propaganda side of the house. But- sorry - I won't give up my FICTIONAL CBS shows though (Tracker, Matlock, Elsbeth, et al) Networks everywhere get my eyes on those ads anyway, can't fight that.

nacreplus2's avatar

Thank you, Brian, for being a pioneer of independent, truth and reality-based journalism. We all know we can rely on the information you publish.

Susan's avatar

Walter Cronkite is rolling in his grave. Bari Weiss is turning into a state tv channel. I would trust Mayor Mamdani over anything CBS puts out

Hippie Girl's avatar

Bari Weiss is no journalist. More like Faux and Friends. 🥱

P Leonard's avatar

Barri Weiss is a shit stained righty puppet. An ideologue extremist. A destroyer in the name of false righteousness. Basically, a piece of the cancer that infects us.

Elaine's avatar

how can these people or their families? Be proud of what they do?

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

And never was, she always was a propagandist with an obvious bias against reality.

Propaganda works. We saw it happen in 2016 and again in 2020. trumpworld is deathly afraid of reality.
