I am SO GLAD, SO RELIEVED, that Jim Acosta left CNN. I quit turning on CNN way over a year ago. I really admired and respected Jake Tapper. It's been a long, long time since I could say that. 👎👎
I've given up corporate media. I get my news from you and others like you. I don't know which journalist ran all of the reporters pushing that book, but it was disgusting. Years ago I believe it was Abby Hoffman who wrote a book named "steal this book". I think if anyone wants to read that suck up book they should steal it and while we're at it, fuck Bezos. I'm doing a piece with the companies that seriously support the traitor in chief and also a list of often purchase products and the prices in small stores or purchasing directly from the company. I am very low income, but I would rather pay three dollars more to the company than give Bezos a penny. The writers on Amazon that I know don't get paid much at all, so I try and buy my books directly from the author. This is a war and I know which side I'm on.
I have been anti-Amazon from the get-go. I didn't like what they were doing to bookselling. If more people were like me, we would never have heard of Bezos nor Zuckerberg (no FB for me either).
Good on you for giving up legacy media! It's getting harder to move when their strings are so entangled.
Just FYI - I have long boycotted anything Baaaaaahzos and always try to buy things from the source. But the other day I ordered some vitamins directly (I thought) and received a package connected with amazon. Until it arrived I had nothing whatever to do with them.
Sneaky stuff, that.
PS - for Janis - how about writers who get NOTHING at all from amazon, which immediately decided to make my Kindle book free, delete a number of my positive reviews (the people must be related, no?) and subsequently played with the price? I once got a check for $.04, which was more expensive to mail than to cash. Yeesh. Now I try to sell it off its own Website.
I feel the very same way - I buy direct from the seller NO AMAZON and definitely NEVER under any circumstance will I ever!!! watch CNN again -I will miss Anderson OH well!
I, too gave up so called legacy media and stick with real journalists like Brian. I'm old enough to have read Abbie Hoffman's "Steal This Book" and to have been an active participant in the protests of the day and am enjoying the feeling I get from protests today. They alleviate hopelessness. I've cancelled my Amazon, never used Twit or Facebook. If I can't find a product locally then maybe I don't really need it.
We are from the same era♥️ 🎶🎹💯🎷💃🤸I am loving participating in the protests. Yes, it sure beats anger and hopelessness. I hope this mess we are in is sorted back to a strong democracy in my lifetime :) 😁🇺🇸🤯💖💯‼️
I remember Steal This Book had an unlabeled circuit diagram that, when constructed, allowed one to make long distance calls (Date myself much?? 🤣) even from England to the US for no charge. It was a huge deal back in the 70s when a three minute international call could set you back big bucks. I wonder if you can still get a copy…
I like that Jim Costa walked away. I like the remarks from Dan Rather too.
I tend to watch Rick Steves and National Geographic programs , and listen to Hauser’s cello and Joshua Bell’s violin. Much more interesting and peaceful.
I agree. I also watch John Stewart and John Oliver and there’s a great comedian, Josh Johnson.I agree. I also watch John Stewart and John Oliver and there's a great comedian, Josh Johnson. He's sort of like George Colin, but not as tough. He definitely gets his message across though.
My only problem with Substack is I can't support them all. I have to be financially selective, which sucks, because almost all are doing real journalism that deserves support, like a good old fashioned newspaper. Mike Royko and Walter Cronkite are spinning in their graves!
I have like 50 Substacks that I am following and half are paid subscriptions having added a few here and there over several months. This is an expensive habit but worth it supporting quality journalism. Started with Medias Touch and Zeteo and now so many more including BTC and now so many Substackers substack with other Substackers I can't keep up watching or reading them all in a day!
I'd love to be able to pay money to subscribe, but, as a senior with disabilities, it's hard enough on less than $1,000 per month on SSI. Also, my Section 8 portion went up for the first time in 2 years. However, I watch your YouTube, along with David Pakman, Meidas Touch (all) and other progressives. And, I've been boycotting Amazon for at least 10 years, Walmart, Home Depot and now, Target. Some corporate network news media runs in the background on broadcast (cannot afford cable), but PBS NewsHour is my main source right now.
Janis completely agree with you! No corporate media and we completely ditched ALL things Amazon as soon as Bezos made his contribution. We’d rather pay support small and local and would rather pay more then give Amazon a nickel.
Yeah, this week has driven me over the edge with legacy media (I worked in local TV news for 20+ yrs… ). The clueless coverage of the nothing-burger Tapper book, then getting dizzy over if Biden was screened for prostate cancer, without doing even the most basic research into screening recommendations for men over age 70. Legacy journalism has been taken over by morons.
Having lost my husband to this horrible disease, not to mention my mother from brain cancer very young, I take the ignorance and cruelty quite personally. Worse, it is only a deflection from their gross incompetence and unworthiness. Trump is not a serious healthy adult, and apparently his cult either.
Biden’s health is not relevant to the 2028 election. Legacy media feels otherwise. Democrats can’t rely on the traditional media to get their message out.
I've thought a lot about why Democrats have done such a terrible job messaging, and that traditional media hasn't helped them. I always thought the problem was their message, and not just the media. Then I remembered that Kamala Harris had used alternative media, and wondered why it wasn't effective.
I just read a Dec. 7, 2024 article about her digital campaign manager Rob Flaherty, written by Max Tumi on Semafor, that I thought was giving me insight, until I looked up Flaherty
Given that he had worked on Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, Beto O'Rourke's presidential campaign, Joe Biden's presidential campaign, and then the Biden White House, and finally Harris' presidential campaign, I wondered why anyone would interview him at all. How may failures does a person need before he is considered unemployable?
Anyway, I'm still at a loss. But, the one thing I believe is that Democrats should invest in the people who stand by them. And, that would include Brian Tyler Cohen!
They would make a lot more money if they had the balls of Woodward and Bernstein. Felon 47 is worth at least ten best sellers, and a couple of movies. Wouldn’t it be better to go down in history as heroes rather than whiners?
I agree. So much for “investigating reporting”. Leave Biden alone already. He did a decent job as President and truly cared for the wellbeing of Americans. He spent his whole adult life in service for this country.
The real story should be on what’s happening NOW in the White House with that lunatic in charge! Shit, it doesn’t even require “investigating” reporting, the corruption is blatantly out in the open for all to see each and every day!
I’ve been an avid watcher of CNN for almost a year now, especially Jake Tapper, but this whole Biden book thing has seriously soured me on CNN. You really blew it Jake and CNN.
In addition to BTC, I appreciate Lawrence O'Donnell on MSNBC. I also subscribe on YouTube to: The Humanist Report with Mike Figueroa, Meidas Touch, Rebel HQ, and Democracy Docket. I remember real journalism of the Walter Cronkite era. I'm disgusted that people continue to support FOX "News", even though they were fined nearly $800M for lying! Some people are just plain stupid.
Enjoy BTC, Reich and Krugman but here are some more, add Jim Acosta, Don Lemon, Katie Phang, Lincoln Square, Michael Cohen, Aaron Parnas, Lev Parnas, Malcomb Nance, Steve Schmidt, Left Hook, The Ink, Glen Kirschner. Adam Kinzinger, John Pavlovitz, Oliva Troye, Ruth Ben Ghiat, Heather Cox Richardson, JoJofromJerz, Andy Borowitz plus the Meidas Touch and Legal AF. There are more but that is a start...
Yes to all and don’t forget Rachel Maddow. I miss her being on msnbc every night. We need her on tv every night not just Trump’s first 100 days. Jen Psaki is doing an admiral job. But Rachel always brought the receipts from all the corruption. Now it’s Lawrence. But my favorite is still Brian Tyler Cohen.
No longer watching CNN or other cable new channels.. however U still like Nicole Wallace on MSNBC. I've been watching Brain Cohen, the Midas Touch and other talented young people on Substack and YouTube. I make sure that it real news that's been fact checked before I trust it.
Disturbing Tapper's timing and focus with launch of a rather irrelevant book considering the overt scrutiny of Biden's health, avoiding the tremendous work done on behalf of Americans during his administration - meanwhile zip / nada / zero coverage of the Felon45/47's glaring mental deterioration, obscene cruelty and unrelenting jaw-dropping control of this puppet wannabee king to destroy worldwide democracy by dismantling every positive aspect of that here in America...Tapper the Crapper seeks to destroy America's democracy, hand in glove with the lunatic at the helm
Can't stomach their blatant lies and self promotion. With the exception of the determined Jessica Tarloff. Thankyou Brian for all your sterling journalistic integrity. Facts matter. Even here in Australia. 🇦🇺
Magacy Media. Let’s call it by name. Love you Brian Cohen!
Magacy Media is a good word for the jerks.
That is a great name for them.
I now call it billionaire media.
The real cognitive decline is CNN, Tapper, and Thompson and all the other anchors and especially the people in charge!
I am SO GLAD, SO RELIEVED, that Jim Acosta left CNN. I quit turning on CNN way over a year ago. I really admired and respected Jake Tapper. It's been a long, long time since I could say that. 👎👎
AGREED 100%

Same here John! No Amazon, FB, Target and never shopped at Walmart.
I can't say I never shopped at Walmart but I haven't in over 20 years. I recently quit Target as well.
Good on you for giving up legacy media! It's getting harder to move when their strings are so entangled.

Janis: they are out there “ whoring “ themselves.
I like that Jim Costa walked away. I like the remarks from Dan Rather too.

Brian, you are always a voice of truth and reason. I am so proud of you.
Agree 1000 %.

^^^Ever so much this! It's like they are all blank slates, who never research the subject, or know anything independently.
Biden’s health is not relevant to the 2028 election. Legacy media feels otherwise. Democrats can’t rely on the traditional media to get their message out.
We never could, really , not since Gingrich and his "contract ON America".
I've thought a lot about why Democrats have done such a terrible job messaging, and that traditional media hasn't helped them. I always thought the problem was their message, and not just the media. Absolutely agree!
Great comment!
Dump them! Cancel regular tv, unfollow CNN CBS etc on all of the socials, but after you comment and tell them why!
In addition to BTC, I appreciate Lawrence O'Donnell on MSNBC. I also subscribe on YouTube to: The Humanist Report with Mike Figueroa, Meidas Touch, Rebel HQ, and Democracy Docket. You should also subscribe to Robert Reich he is awesome and tells you the truth. Love BTC and read his Occupy Democracy everyday.
And Paul Krugman he has become very outspoken about the NYT muzzling him.
Barbara Moore....I'll look him up. Thanks
His Kaffee Klatch is a must-watch!!

Add to that Mary Trump.
Try reading Seth Abramson's substack and also Robert Rei. You will see some deep reporting into what is really going on.
Keep up the good work.

Love Rachel on MSNBC ❤️
Agreed. And so far, Nicole Wallace is a good reporter. No tv, so just catch bits and pieces on YouTube. Also Jimmy Kimmel’s monologue.
Dump the legacy media!!!!
Corporate media, not legacy media. The legacy is lies.
Billionaire Media
Tapper et al - no better than Trump

Perfectly said! ❤️
Been a subscriber because of your useful news, love your approach, similar to MeidasTouch, hope you're friends, so much good by both of you guys.😻
Beautiful comment! ❤️😍❤️
