So here we have 3 psychopaths in Putin, Trump, Netanyahu, some more bloodthirsty than others and Netanyahu is bullying Trump while Putin essentially own him. Maybe we need to try a woman leader for a change?

Diane Weber's avatar

Harris predicted everything about trump when she was campaigning. But here we are. I believe at some point things like this happen for a reason. To wake people up! The biggest cry babies are the ones who voted for this psycho. Yet I believe they would actually vote for him again 🙄

But I have to say this, trump has done such significant damage to America’s reputation only one female personality will be capable of taking over from Trump and that is a woman who is comparable to Margaret Thatcher. The mining industry was on the verge of bankrupting the UK and it had to happen, the world has agreed upon this. Trump stated that Starmer is no Churchill and I will counter that trump is no Woodrow Wilson. To hell with JD Vance, he is not up to the presidency, if a woman takes the job it has to be a woman who is not afraid to slam her fist on the desk in a room full of men but when slams her fist her decision has to be correct and Kamala Harris is just not that woman. Currently due to the very unstable Trump America is sitting on a very narrow fence and if we fall to the right we will lose not just Democracy but this entire country.

Judy Croft Barkume's avatar

And a damn fine, tenacious, prosecutor, perhaps the op has her mixed up with Katie Britt the fundie from Alabama?

Esther's avatar

Sorry but Thatcher is not the example you’re looking for. She followed Reagans disastrous economic plan almost to the letter, the repercussions of which we’re still feeling today. She deliberately decided to destroy the coal mining union purely because it was the strongest…break that one and you can break them all. She sold off the majority of social housing then implemented a tax for the privilege. She closed physiatric hospitals thereby ejecting vulnerable people out onto the street to be “cared for in the community’ without actually funding it. But let’s face it, this is the woman who famously declared that there is no society, well, not one our elected representatives should be held accountable for anyway. Being able to stand up and thump the table like a man doesn’t make you a better leader, it just makes you another bully. I do however, totally agree it’s time for a woman to bring all her strengths to the table, just not one that mimics the thug currently in office.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Yes, they didn't call her "the Iron lady" for her empathy. (since she had none for anyone) Someone more like Angela Merkel.

Colly66's avatar

Dorothy's avatar

Margaret Thatcher was an elitist and the British female version of Ronald Reagan. Asl any Irish person about her and how she let the Irish prisoners die in the hunger strike at H Block prison, including a fairly elected member of Parliament. That said, the majority of people in the U.S. will never in my lifetime elect a woman for President. This has been proven several times in the last 10 years. Remember Amy Klobuchar and Elizabeth Warren ran too.

We can't sit back & wait for anyone in Washington DC to take action. And, yes, we need a powerful, unyielding woman to correct this path we're on. You're correct, Kamala is not that woman. Possibly Michelle Obama? If she would be willing. However, I don't know if our white male dominated citizenry would vote for a Black woman. I am afraid for myself, for our citizens, for the world. If you were the CEO of a university or CFO of a major bank you would likely pickup random death threats from disgruntled clients so from the beginning I have never bought this story of trump being dangerous. The only way that I see to put genuine fear in anyone’s belly is to threaten these people with exposure for some ill deed in their past. We all do stupid things especially when we are young. To even entertain rising to a powerful position with skeletons in your closet and it has been my belief from his first term that this is the only genuinely effective way to back powerful people down. trump has a fairly low I.Q. so this is the only tool for trump to use that is anywhere as effective as he has been. trump has always worn his mistakes on his sleeve for the world to see. So making a fool on himself is likely something Trump has come to enjoy. Trump has only been in office one year this term and he already possesses a rather lengthy paper trail of inhumane deeds to the world , even his base. Trump is the only person who does not see the folly of his exploits.

You are so wrong about Netanyahu. He understands clearly the meaning of "NEVER AGAIN" and refuses to cave in to any threats to Israel's right to exist from terrorist Arabs that are financed by Iran and surround Israel and deny their right to exist.

MB Kiefer's avatar

The only thing Netanyahu seems to understand (like Trump) is using his office to stay out of jail. And even so, his methods working against that goal, since even former supporters of Israel find his genocidal tactics despicable.

alan segal's avatar

Hey MB stop with the uninformed Hamas propaganda nobody except gullible fools such as you call Netanyahu's defense of Israel's right to exist by fighting Jew hating terrorists that attack Israel such as Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, Iran, etc. "genocidal tactics". Shame on you for your antisemitism. You want genocide look at the Holocaust where 6 million innocent Jews were slaughtered. Netanyahu understands NEVER AGAIN. You are so clueless using "genocide"to anything Jews do to defend themselves.

Maria Pickworth's avatar

You condone the genocide the invasion of Lebanon. You conveniently ignore the fact that a lot of Jewish people live in these Arab countries even Iran and do not want to go to Israel nor are they being killed as all the other none Muslims. Netanyahu is nothing more than a war criminal mass murderer and dictator who is conducting this war to keep his butt out of jail.

alan segal's avatar

Maria you are either low IQ, cluelessly uninformed, or just a Jew/Israel hater. There is no genocide in Gaza, stop miss- using that powerful word to enable your support of terrorism, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah and Iran's murderous Mullahs.

There is no genocide in Gaza. There are not a lot of Jews living in other Muslim majority countries. But there are a lot of non-Jewish Arabs living in Israel ( over 20%) of the population and they are receiving the benefits of Israel's democracy. Israel gave up Gaza as a peace gesture in 2005. Israel was invaded savagely by Hamas and other terrorists on October 7th, 2023.

Netanyahu is a warrior not a dictator. He is defending Israel's and Jew's right to exist against the terrorists you enable and support with your careless use of their propaganda to deny Israel's right to exist. You are disgusting.

Maria Pickworth's avatar

I am neither of the above and you are regurgitating what the Muslim haters want you to believe. Where are the proven statistics of what you are quoting, where is the prove of the murdering Mullahs.

Netanyahu is not a warrior he is a mass murderer a war criminal and yes I repeat he ordered the genocide in Gaza. He is expanding into the West Bank levelling Souther Lebanon and by according to you this “warrior “ mass murderer is killing innocent people. Nor should we forget the bombing of other Middle Eastern countries.

Israel was never a country until the British created it and thereby created all the problems in the Middle East.

I also wonder about your IQ,

Dorothy's avatar

Bibi has blood on his hands and has gone on record saying he wants every Muslim dead. Also, he doesn't care if Christians die in his wars either and has slaughtered them too. Bibi is a genocidal monster, and MANY Jewish people agree!

alan segal's avatar

People such as you make me want to throw up. You are totally full of you know what, claiming "many Jewish people agree Bibi is genocidal monster". He is a warrior guided by 2 words, NEVER AGAIN. He had relatives killed in the Holocaust as did I, and his brother was killed fighting terrorists in Entebbe. He has never said he wants all Muslims dead and there is not a shred of evidence that he doesn't care if Christians die, nor has he slaughtered any Christians. Every war he has fought was and is in defense of Israel's right to exist. Israel never started any wars. They have been attacked by Jew haters such as you in every war they have fought and won. You are the monster enabling terrorists and antisemitism with ignorant and shameful lies backed up by zero evidence.

Trump has never been the problem.

The problem is the Republicans.

They could have stopped all of this in 2015 or at any moment since then.

They all voted for their horrible bill damaging to all Americans.

They voted against their own border bill.

They support ICE and DHS criminal actions.

They support Project 2025 (read it, all the stuff Trump is doing is in there).

At any time just a few Republicans could have decided to work with Dems to remove him.

They WANT this.

They orchestrated this.

This has never been about Trump, he is their cover.

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

You overstate the case. It IS about Trump. It's ALSO about the spineless MAGAt majorities in Congress. Both are true.

Plus, there has been no delineation between MAGA and Republican since 2015.

Roseann Duchon's avatar

I agree. It’s not just about Trump. He is the tool at present. This is all about white, “christian,” straight, wealthy, educated men who think they and ONLY THEY are capable of managing our government and the country’s vast resources, including our tax dollars, the culture of the country, and the education (indoctrination) of its youth. Project 2025 and its “Unitary Executive Theory,” has finally been made public, (remember when trump said he knew nothing about it?) He LIED. The philosophy emerged during Reagan and the Koch brothers, but not so publicly as now, thanks to investigative news journalists, independent authors, political commentators and many Democrats in Congress who saw the handwriting on the wall and the real hidden agenda. Trump won’t last forever. He gets more unhinged everyday. We need to worry more about WHO comes after Trump. And I agree, it’s time for a woman to lead our nation.

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

I voted for Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris. I hope to live to see a woman president. But I do not believe 2028 is the year to risk losing the election over it.

Bill's avatar

Yes but I have come to the realization that the U.S. will never, ever elect a woman to the Presidency. We will never elect a gay male to the Presidency either. Democrats must wake up to these two realities.

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

And we'll never elect a black man...

Oh wait, we did.

mary's avatar

Not "never"...just "sometime" in the future

I have serious concerns that trump will order the use tactical nuclear weapons in the misguided believe that the world will see it as a show of power and bow down to hm; it fits his personality.

I hope that sanity prevails amongst the military.

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

It's possible but not probable. If it happens, that's the moment for the military to refuse to follow orders.

And we turn into a '60s political thriller.

Bill's avatar

Yep. Every single ill we have today whether political, social, or economic can be traced directly back to Reagan and his corrupt administration.

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

Ironically, if Reagan was alive today he'd be denounced as a RINO.

mary's avatar

I fear Vance comes after Trump...and that's a real shudder point.

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

I'd say since 2017. In 2016 there were a number of Republicans who were out there as "never-Trumpers." They eventually either left the party or caved.

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

Again, you overstate the case. Some of them are malicious and selfish and know exactly what they're doing. Many of them aren't bright enough to do act so, and are just going along with the red "team." People like Comer Pyle and Tommy Tupperville are idiots, not master conspirators.

Dorothy's avatar

I was going to state that point as well. The MAGAT REPUBLICANS are the ones who are enabling the monster occupying the Oval Office, along with all his henchmen and mercenaries. Remember in November!

There has been no delineation between MAGA and Republican since 2015.

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

The way we do it is by voting out of office every single MAGAt we can. It's not Congress, per se, that's the problem. It's the current spineless MAGAt majority.

Dorothy's avatar

EXACTLY! You broke the code!

Schmiegelow Michele's avatar

You forget two important factors :

1) the MAGA people don’t read, they listen to radio stations (or watch TV) that have systematically been bought by the rightwing oligarchs and therefore are brainwashed every day.

2) this kleptocratic oligarchy actively pursues their economic concentration of media to crush any opposition and of technology to grab all our data killing any privacy, so that blackmail is easy. See how Meta, Amazon or Columbia have been cowered for example. And they sue individuals, even if they know it won’t work, because it destroy their lives…

Yes, the dismantling of democracy is planned and pursued.

Paul Scott's avatar

The reason Trump and the MAGAs keep getting away with crap is because most folks on the left keep buying gasoline. Americans spent $425 billion on gas last year and since the electorate is 50/50, this means Dems gave oil companies over $200 billion. They do this every year. The oil industry spent over a billion dollars electing Trump and a MAGA congress. Half that came from Dems.

Never buy a gas car again! Research which EV will serve your daily needs, figure out where you'll charge it, then save up and get it done asap. If you drive a gas car, this should be your top priority.

Kathryn Charpentier's avatar

I switched to electric 2 years ago and never looked back. A strange thing happened during the process. At first I was frustrated by the long charging time. But I've learned to use that 30 - 40 minutes as a way to relax. I'll go for a walk or run, or if it's raining I'll do a meditation or read or listen to BTC. Next is solar on the house. Yes. it's more money up front, and it was a huge stretch for me financially. But you end up saving in the long run with less money spent at the pump and maintenance. Also, I have reduced my plastic (petroleum product) use down to a quarter of what I used to use: Bar shampoos soaps , etc, Dissolving tablets for cleaning products, Choosing food Products/condiments in glass. These are small things I do. but collectively They could have a large impact.

Monica Mac's avatar

Oh, I could not love this comment more!! Good on you.

When I sell my unit and buy my forever home, I am getting solar panels, decent insulation, double glazed windows and then an EV. I will have to save for all of that but it will be worth it.

I buy a lot of my produce from stalls on the side of the road, and I have a lovely collection of relishes and sauces from the same sources. I am lucky enough to live in the countryside. I want to spend my dollars locally, supporting people who got off their behinds and made things for the rest of us. Shop local, as much as possible. Shop natural as much as possible.

William M's avatar

At least the MAGA guys with their giant coal-rolling trucks will be paying proportionately much more for gas than most folks on the left. Not to mention that they drive longer distances in rural areas, so their gas expenditures will be much higher, and maybe they'll finally take notice. That at least is a silver lining.

Monica Mac's avatar

Unfortunately, this is affecting farmers on the other side of the world as well (Australia). We are getting shortages in the supermarket because we are running out of diesel where we are, so the problem is not just that the prices are sky high (which they are) but getting our hands on it. Of course, all the machinery that farmers use in their fields run on diesel as well. There are farmers who are not planting crops, at all, because they can't afford or in some cases, GET, the diesel that they need. That then flows on to the rest of us.

I can see a time where people will be planting vegetable gardens all over the place because our food security has gone.

Trump, as usual, doesn't think about anyone but himself.

Paul Scott's avatar

Farm equipment is being electrified quickly. Small electric tractors have been around for almost a decade. Every year they get bigger and better. There are even electric combines now.

Farms and ranches have lots of room to put ground mounted solar arrays along with battery storage. You could generate enough electricity to power your home, vehicles, farm equipment, and even a large refrigeration system. Solar with battery storage is so cheap these days that you could easily disconnect from the grid, stop buying any diesel or gas, and never pollute again.

mary's avatar

In WW II, I believe they were called Victory Gardens.

Diane Weber's avatar

That would be an ok alternative however trump is helping the big electric companies to raise our electrical bills. My understanding is trump paid some country overseas who were building wind power 1 billion dollars to stop making them. They are killing the birds. Like he cares about the birds! The electric companies are making a killing off the consumer. They love trump for it. In return they pump a lot of money into the republican party. This is way out of hand. The rich, wealthy will have control over us. They have been working on this for decades and they finally got their perfect leader. Do you think that the rich are hurting? They are in LOVE with it and the money. Money always talks. Money equals power. Power over the people. And here we are at last.

Dorothy's avatar

The reason for your electric bill going up is because of the AI data processing centers. Also, if you live in California, we are paying for the lawsuits against both PG&E and Edison for their culpability in the fires caused by lack of wire maintenance.

Donna Ryan's avatar

No, No, No! Don’t you believe that the rich, wealthy will have control over us! Remember the “No Kings” rallies, we the people have to continue to stand up to this evil man and his administration! If they can oust Orban, then we can oust the Orange McDonald loving freak!

Diane Weber's avatar

Money equals power. Period. Did I say differently? I completely understand the reason for “No Kings” rallies. The WORLD was watching the US on voting day hoping that the US wouldn’t vote for this idiot. But apparently the US thought he was a better choice. I was appalled he got voted in. Eating cats and dogs is one heck of a lot different than helping families, 1st time home buyers with $25,000. Harris predicted everything he would do if he got in for office. Over half of the country voted for a 34xs convicted felon for gods sake!!! And add all of his other crap in his life. A felon who never had to deal with the consequences has surely not learned a lesson. They continue screwing people over. If trump goes down he will not go down alone! Even if the world goes down with him. We have sleeper cells in this country already, I pray to God there will not be war on our land! If so it will be a terrorist war. They will get even, somehow some way!!! Generations to come. The world will not trust the US until we prove to them we have turned ourselves around. What we have lost already will take years to rebuild. It took a year to dismantle what we had but it will take a generation to rebuild it’s long as we vote blue. And don’t ever think there isn’t inside trading going on! That’s what the republicans are loving. I’m sure the democrats are doing it too however it’s the 3 branches of republicans we have to cut down right now. My 4 grandparents taught me about both parties in the late ‘50s. I was just a little kid but it all fits together even more today. It took decades to this point it will take YEARS to rebuild what we once had. I lived in the best years! I have to stop watching the news as it is way more than I can handle. The headlines speak volumes! That’s enough for me to be f’ing sick of the sh*t!!!!!

Ann Neises's avatar

I've thought about getting an EV, but part of me doesn't want to support Musk, who is a Trump ally. I feel I would be supporting Trump in a round-about way??? It feels like a no win situation.

Paul Scott's avatar

Getting an EV does not support Musk. Buying a new Tesla might, in the long run, improve his holdings in Tesla some, but not much. At the time, you're giving oil companies over $2,000 every year. Average American spends $2,500 on gas. I can assure you buying and burning gasoline is much much worse than anything else you do in your entire life.

Tesla is by far the best car company in the world. Tesla is also the most powerful enemy of the global oil industry. They have directly taken over 9 million gas cars off the road, and indirectly, they've taken tens of millions more gas cars off the road, because without tesla forcing them to, no other car company would be selling any EVs.

You don't have to buy a Tesla, but you do have to stop buying gas. However you accomplish that is up to you, but don't think you're a good person for not buying a Tesla. Think of yourself as a bad person for buying gas.

mary's avatar

Tesla isn't the only electric vehicle.

Paul Scott's avatar

Nobody said it was. I find that a lot of the people who say that drive gas cars. It would be better if they actually bought one of those other EVs instead of badmouthing Tesla.

Dorothy's avatar

Many of us cannot affiord to buy a new car, let alone an EV.

Buying a new gas car is the worst thing you can do, so if you can't afford one, then you're good on that point. I don't know what you're currently driving or what you paid for it, but I do know that you could have bought a perfectly good used Nissan Leaf for $5,000 over 10 years ago. Did your gas car cost more than $5,000?

I think that Chinese made EV's are going to become a major thing, going forward. I don't want to buy a Tesla either, out of principle, but there are other options and smart Asian countries will see the need for it and ramp up production.

Paul Scott's avatar

The most important thing is to never buy a gas car again. We need to kill that entire industry as quickly as possible, but every time someone buys a new gas car, the factory makes another.

Monica Mac's avatar

Yes, we need to change our mindsets.

I look at my daughter and her husband, who HAD to buy a SUV because it was the trendy thing to do. I hate to think how much they are paying at the petrol pump right now. They live in suburbia, btw, so they don't NEED to have a bigger car. All status symbol stuff.....silly buggers!

Paul Scott's avatar

You see it for what it is. A good project for you going forward is to convince them to switch to an EV. Invite them to take a test drive with you in a Model Y and see if that convinces them. Plenty of great bargains on used Model Ys.

Dorothy's avatar

The SUVS are the station wagons of the 21st century. People want them to car pool their kids in snd all their gear.

I believe Ford has an. electric pickup truck now.

Paul Scott's avatar

Ford had the Lightening, a very good electric truck, but they just discontinued it. You can still find used ones, but most are keeping theirs because it's so good. This is why Tesla is important. Ford, GM, and other legacy auto companies will talk a good game on EVs, but they fail to deliver, or if they do deliver, they discontinue it, because in the end, they are old timey combustion companies destined for the dustbin of history.

'None of these powers rest with presidency unless Congress surrenders its power to Executive branch'....yeah right wing congress is a big part but where are impotent Schumer & Jeffries to put PRESSURE on Trump.....put up a fight at least. The play dead strategy only eboldens and gives momentum to the 'facists'.

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

What sort of "pressure" do you imagine they can exert? Is not funding DHS a good start?

I love the way you express your feelings that are deep, intense and grounded in Truth! Thank you for paving the way toward a newer, better democracy

I look forward to reading your book; you have a great insight into what's been going on. I believe Trump is stoppable. He's a disaster, and his "impulsive nature" is exactly what got us here in the first place. I believe his impulsive nature will bring him and his good-time buddies down. Just a thought, we knew what he was in the 90s, and know what a grifter he is. I blame many first-time voters for this awful mess we find ourselves in. They went on a feeling or vibes. I really don't blame them; that's not right. I hope they have learned from their mistakes and become more informed. I have a long memory, and Trump 1.0 was horrific, and this term is much worse.

There is name for what the Republican side of Congress is, it's called a cuckold. It's absolutely disgusting we have a sexual term that describes our own government.

I have a friend who defends trump. We don’t talk much. He calls trump a “change agent.” I point out changes are not always for the better. He does appear, from here in Canada, to be extraordinarily devoted to destroying the American empire. That may be, in the end, a good thing. This is only if he does not start a nuclear war. He would happily do so to stay out of prison and keep cheating at golf.

Monica Mac's avatar

And that is the problem. Trump is becoming a cornered animal. He doesn't have much to lose anymore and that makes him dangerous. If he didn't have the nuclear codes, it wouldn't be so bad, but he does.....

The other day when he threatened to wipe out Iran, I was on my way to work and wondered if I would get home ok. I had a tension headache all day because of him. I really don't want to live my life this way. I am in Australia, btw, and he is affecting our daily lives too, in a very big way.

I really like what your PM said about "middle powers banding together". I think that could really work, just leave the US out of any alliance. I wish OUR PM was as articulate and forthright as yours, I have to say. Our PM used to be a bit of a firebrand, back in the day, but since he became PM he has become pretty spineless.

Can you please send this to every member of the Republican House and Senate? They need a good mirror held up to their faces, and this is a great start.

Diane's avatar

Stop putting men in power!!!

Dorothy's avatar

REPUBLICAN MEN ... and REPUBLICAN WOMEN are guilty of enabling the monster too!

Diane's avatar

Yes, agree that is also true. But if you look at government i believe the scale has always tipped one way. I’m independent and do my research before voting. Man or woman.

Dorothy's avatar

I've heard that before ("doing my research"). The anti-vax people who don't believe in the medical researchers who know more than they know about science.

Diane's avatar

Look I don’t understand you continuously attacking my comments. I believe in science before anyone’s opinion including yours.

Steven Ferguson's avatar

It's because tRumpublicans control all three houses of government and aren't held responsible for crimes they openly commit. They can always blame Biden, Obama, and Democrats, even though it is Republicans who grossly add to the deficit.

Irene Finn's avatar

They control all three branches of government and they still feel the need to cheat! Time for Democrats to stop taking the high road and get in the gutter with the gop!

Dorothy's avatar

Been saying that same thing for awhile. The Dems can do the Limbo. Let's see how low they can go!

Linda Kleven's avatar

Education, education, education. In order to remove him and the rest of 2025 bunch, you, who have a vote, might make your first education target might be to convince the previously non voting of their essential agency, no point converting the mindset of magas.

Dorothy's avatar

Oh, believe me, I rub the non-voters' noses in it ALL the time, especially when I ask them how Gaza is doing these days!

Linda Myers's avatar

And, nothing gets better until he’s gotten rid of. Plain fact.

Sheryl O’Connor's avatar

Sorry, but this doesn’t really explain WHY. It explains how.
