The “Foxification” of corporate media should terrify anyone who cherishes truth to power. Thank you for this critical piece.

I'd like to add a snarky comment to Mike's comment: the "faux-ification" of corporate media.

It's a scary time for freedom of the press. They have normalized Trump’s behavior which we should know by now. This is really a disaster

Mike Hammer's avatar

The Trump regime has also normalized and condoned institutionalized corruption. The 250th birthday is meaningless unless we get these criminals held accountable.

Perfect day for a blow-out NO KINGS gathering... don't cha think... poetic...

Repealing Citizen’s United is step one. The billionaire class is a cancer on this republic.

Sharyn Alfonsi is a terrific seasoned reporter and she will land well, perhaps with PBS or NPR with her own show? That I would watch gladly!

60 min crew should all quit and start a podcast...call it 61 minutes or something

MJ's avatar

Sixty-one minutes cannot work, as the indication is an hour-long program. Time cannot be extended. However, adding the word “plus” could indicate something other than time, such as integrity. 60 Minutes + could work.

Ken Schnur's avatar

But then you now have a new channel that has to be paid for to view.

MJ's avatar

Actually, the purpose of paid programming is in making up the difference for lack of advertising. Some companies have found it easier to pay employees by removing the middleman of commercials and directly charging customers.

Are you an executive that would make this call for them?

Ken Schnur's avatar

But then once you pay for the channel then they start charging for commercial free programming. It's just another ploy to add to their bottom line. Billion dollar profits are never enough!

Fred Duffer's avatar

It's a podcast now not constrained by network constructs like time and space. Adding the 1 minute is specifically to confuse people it looks like it worked😂

Congratulations for…?

George Orwell was quite prophetic.

As is Stephen King. There is much to be said about HFA authors, no?

Support independent media!!!!

I stopped watching "The News" years ago.

I threw out my TV over 30 years ago and have never looked back. No regrets. Not one. I've been around for 85 years, and I remember when news was news. Today, you might as well buy a copy of the National Enquirer as listen to the events of the day as delivered by someone reading a prepared script from a teleprompter. What is so disturbing is that this is the reporting you find coming from Russia. Trump cloning his buddy Putin. I am grateful for the independent reporters. I have several I follow. I do not believe that primetime TV will ever recover from its ring kissing.

I want to believe that while evil is trying to destroy the media most of us are holding our noses until we can kick all this destruction to the curb and reclaim the trust in our news outlets. The silent majority is holding its breath and crossing their fingers that we will regain sanity and rehire honest journalism.

MJ's avatar

Getting from where we are now to the point we can “hire honest journalism“ requires action, not finger-crossing and lip-flapping. What are you DOING to activate this resolve?

Dana Borowka's avatar

Does anyone know how I can send an email to bari Weiss?

Ken Schnur's avatar

Yes! Send it to tRump!!

Cynthia's avatar

What Bari Weiss is doing to good honest news reporting is a disgrace I’m so glad I have sky news and the BBC for the truth. Shame on Weiss🤬

Kathy Hughes's avatar

She doesn’t know how to run a news organization which is designed to promote the public interest. What she does know how to do is to run a right wing propaganda outlet and to run a once decent news company into the ground to satisfy a childish wannabe dictator.

More than messy-On the way to state run media like in Russia. We can choose what to watch and let the status of viewers show where the money for advertisers should go.

I don't miss CBS,NBC,ABC,FOX, or any channel on regular TV broadcasting. I gave them all up long ago. I live in the political cesspool of Missouri so I can't believe anything coming across those formats. I get my news from you Brian, Legal AF, and the people you support and work closely with. There is such a informed group of smart, honest reporters, I don't need to listen to the garbage pots ..

Try MSNow great journalism fighting for us!

Shortsighted views only limits what you see in a general sense. You must curb what your mind takes in, as the media correspondents have multiple ways, billboards, social media, etc. which you cannot escape. Turning everything out will merely leave you ignorant of everything. Be cautious of who you trust, and circulate everything with a grain of salt. (I continue to watch ABC and NBC.)

Terry's avatar

In your humble opinion. In my humble opinion, I can't stand lies and half truths, so I also don't watch CBS, faux noise, CNN, NBC or ABC. To each their own, in my humble opinion, of course.

MJ's avatar

My opinion isn’t so humble. I research and never take word-of-mouth in opinion as fact. You certainly are entitled to your own “humble opinion,” of course.

Terry's avatar

It's a very common saying. If you don't wish to be humble in your opinion, that's your business.

Michael Watkins's avatar

I would recommend the entire 60 Minute crew to resign in mass … unless they like being Trump puppets.

Makes me wonder how it will all play out when the regime is gone and a Fairness Doctrine of sorts and real journalism are the goals.

Trump & his administration needs to be removed & WHY isn’t that being done. He is committing more harm the longer in power.

Now Trump interfering with our mail in vote via Post Office. Pray Elias act fast as Trump has show his intentions. Thank God for Elias.
