This cult is breaking apart from the inside out while its 'leader' desperately tried to retain power because he know his a$$ is going to prison if he doesn't. That has always been his biggest reason, and he doesn't care one whit who he destroys in doing so...

Idk, I have heard the line that maga is crumbling but I have to be honest, I don’t see it. Maybe a few fringe maggats are questioning him, but he still has full help by all republicans. He still is allowed to break laws and proceed with zero morals and ethics with no issues. He still has approval by 37% or higher of supporters in surveys.

Eric Wortman's avatar

But 37% support doesn't win many votes.

Kathy Tankersley's avatar

Yes, but— when you have a political party (the reincarnation of the confederacy, in other words, MAGA/repubs) that ignores the Constitution when it’s inconvenient to their goals, lies continuously about who lost elections, systematically removes eligible voters off the rolls, lies again, and supports a rapey felon as president, we have a seriously corrupted society that has a reckoning coming. The rapey felon and his regime of billionaire pedophile protectors want elections to be questioned, always lying about the “fraud“ , sowing doubt by Americans on their civil basic right to a free and fair election. They will not relinquish power and control of our government now. They have tasted absolute power and have gorged on it. The question is how much discord will the rapey felon throw out there to disrupt the midterms, and what will Americans do about it. And will the rapey felon and his pedophile supporting republicans be held accountable.

Paula Dean's avatar

"They will not relinquish power..." period. They can't.

EBrian's avatar

Truth. But in multiple elections I believe he ended up with higher vote % than his polling numbers. Many people want this shit without family and fries knowing they want this shit. Also, it saddens and angers me that 37% of thinking adults still support what he’s done and continues to do. But I am hopeful an end is coming for this truly awful segment of American history.

Susan's avatar

Really, 37% of the US still think he is a good president. I think at least some of this is because many people are not getting real information. I was picking up a prescription some time after we attacked Iran and the guy said they were having trouble getting drugs. I asked if it was because of the war and he said 'what war'.

Diane's avatar

I couldn't agree more. I believe knowing what maga knows now they would still vote for him all over again. It's not over until it's over. What a horrific mess that one man can destroy the whole world and Congress does absolutely nothing to stop it. Un freaking believable.

Susan's avatar

I wonder what the people who have lost faith in trump are going to do at elections. I've heard so many on the right say they would never vote for a Democrat. Will they change their minds or not vote at all. I just hope America can come to its senses and do the right thing.

Pat Robinson's avatar

I hope it is true that the cult is breaking apart, both for the good of our democracy and economy but also for the people who are in it...even they deserve a better world that what they voted for. I continue to believe (maybe not very much, but a little) that a lot of folks voted for trump because they believed the lower grocery prices, lower housing prices, lower gas, tons of good paying jobs and no new wars stuff and these people have had to accept that they were fooled, and that's always hard to admit. And if there are people like that I do feel a tiny bit bad for them but really, sadly, not much...trump has a history of lying and stealing and abusing women and why they would have believed him is such an indictment of our poor education system and how we do not teach any kind of critical thinking skills...I' mean it's not hard to teach fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. But I worked with victims of domestic abuse for years, and the norm was for them to forgive their abuser and believe that he would never hit them again, and of course he did.

Paula Dean's avatar

I have a very bad feeling about this...a wounded, cornered animal will fight until death, and take down as many opponents as possible until then.

Debra's avatar

Too true! "..but I love him..." More reasons for the press to be across the board honest and apolitical. And education to get buff!

Olwatzhisname's avatar

I agree with your assessment of why trump is pushing for the save my a$$ act, but I think the cult following will end up like the one jim Jones led, at best dying a political and social death.

I sometimes think that Trump isn’t just out to destroy our democracy - I think he means to destroy the republican party while he’s at it. To get revenge for his perception that they haven’t done enough for him. Haven’t jumped high enough. Haven’t bowed low enough. Just a thought.

Dale Rowett AR OK VA PA NY's avatar

Ann, you have probably heard the expression, "burn it all down to the ground."

Donald was given one job by his parents: to gain acceptance of the Trump family by NYC aristocracy. That was the one thing they craved. But Donald was crude and brash, repugnant to New York's high society, and they rejected him and his parents. They died as social pariahs.

Donald is bitter about that. That bitterness is what fuels his vengeance literally against the world. He views himself as the ultimate victim, the great "underdog" who's going to triumph over the world by either subjugating it or destroying it.

Beth Winfrey's avatar

I agee he is working hard at destroying not just our country but the whole world. He wants to be king, and we won't let him, so he will burn it all down. That is why he needs to be impeached and jailed, so we don't have to see or hear him anymore.

Debra's avatar

He's damaged goods. A science project gone mad. His niece said it best, "enough is never enough"........like sand down a rat hole. No bottom.

Gloria W's avatar

You know he’s going to find a way to take credit for the fair housing bill passing, anyway; right? What’s one more lie?

Debra's avatar

We can add it to the pile to cover the stench for about 5 minutes.

Marat Oyvetsky's avatar

It wasn’t a policy decision so much as a familiar scene from a dimly lit kitchen, where the chef, red-faced and sulking, refuses to plate the dish because someone dared to question his genius. The housing bill sat there, steaming, imperfect but edible, something that might’ve fed a few hungry people. But no. Not good enough for the man at the pass. Instead, he pushed it away with the kind of theatrical disdain reserved for overcooked steak, making sure everyone in the entire country saw the performance. This wasn’t about housing. It was about ego, the fragile, inflated kind that can’t stand not getting exactly what it wants, exactly when it wants it.

Affordable housing? That’s a problem for people who don’t have penthouses, who don’t measure square footage in acres or view the world from behind gold-tinted glass. For them, it’s rent checks, eviction notices, the slow grind of being priced out of their own life. But for Trump, this was just another moment to pout, to stomp, to remind everyone that if the deal doesn’t carry his signature flourish, his name in oversized letters, it might as well not exist. And so the bill dies on the table, not because it couldn’t help, but because it didn’t serve his appetite. Petty, predictable, and painfully on brand.

Debra's avatar

As an at least 3rd generation slum lord in two countries. anything affordable to do with shelter/home/housing is as foreign to him as class, intelligence or education.

Judy Croft Barkume's avatar

I wonder if anyone told him that the housing bill would go into effect whether he signed it or not or that the Congress had the votes to overturn his veto?!?! Would he even know that with how little he knows about how our government works??

I knew in 2016 the 'make of the man'. While the fledgling MAGA cult was just forming, I saw clearly the evil that brewed inside his mind and heart. He was never going to do anything to help working people. After all, HE was never a member of that group. He was wealthy due to inheritance, deceptions and cheating. He only hung out with other wealthy people. He has never even been interested on working people. How anybody could have been deluded enough to believe anything that this pathological liar and malignant narcissist said, let alone vote for him, is completely beyond me.

Debra's avatar

He needs to be around long enough for all to see his failure and loss. Especially his family and enablers. Like snatched right out from under them. I fear for the future with those kids and grand kids....sheeeesh....

Leslie's avatar

I agree, but the longer he is around, the more damage he does. Plus, I truly believe that every member of his family, and his enablers, is complicit in his evil doings. They're all getting richer...........why bother to challenge that (in their minds)?

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

It's become a commonplace observation: with Trump every accusation is really a confession. He whines about "rigged elections" while he's doing everything he can to rig them. He complains about "fake news" when he and his minions are the source of the endless stream of BS. His corrupt DOJ claims they're investigating the "weaponization" of government when they are the ones bringing trumped up charges (pun intended) against his enemies.

As I like to note, if hypocrisy was physically painful these people would be writhing on the ground in agony.

Alison's avatar

Trump's continued projection is so obvious, it baffles me that his followers are blind to it. His minions in office may see it but they admire it. They consider it his genius and weakly try to emulate it but in reality it is part of his mental illness.

Yes, but Putin named him emloyee of the Century. He really doesn't expect to win mid terms so all his efforts are at continuing to hollow out America so he can land somewhere to avoid prison that Putin will suppy.

Please, remember, if there is a way to cheat, Maga Mike, Heggie Baby, and whoever is in charge of ice this week will rig it and keep it in the Courts long enough to march against the Capitol once again.

When are we going to march on the Capitol for democracy and a "tour?"

Both chambers have only one mission and they are letting us burn to protect a traitorous thief.

IMPEACH, IMPEACH, IMPEACH, CONVICT, CONVICT, CONVICT, JAIL!

I would like you to address the "Save America Act". From my reading of the US Constitution, it states that states, not Congress, control elections. Would you not need an amendment to the Constitution to do what Trump wants to do? Looking forward to your thoughts (mebskivt@gmail.com)

Trump is a Chaos Agent...he'll burn the entire country to get what he wants, and his Cult followers will applaud him as they burn.

I can’t believe the brazen SELFISHNESS of this man. He’s given the wealthy so much and has taken so much from my fellow countrymen, that to not pass legislation toward housing seems tone deaf to us all. This would actually help my family who have been trying to purchase a home for almost 2 years. Always bumping into other buyers that were corporate or paying with cash. Sweeping in and taking every decent property. This legislation would make that illegal. Giving 1st time homebuyers a fighting chance. Then this LOSER of a president, like a baby, says he won’t sign it. Can’t wait till this “regime” is in the rear view mirror.

Blackmail and extortion. His 2 favorite past times.

This bill is virtually worthless to most Americans. A “bipartisan” win from the uniparty.

The biggest winners are probably:

* homebuilders,

* developers,

* manufactured housing companies,

* community banks,

* people already working with HUD programs.

Auntielinn's avatar

It would help my family. For the past two years we have run into problems purchasing a home. corporations are buying homes in my area, paying cash and no one can get anything. I’ve lost out on probably five properties because of Cash offers. This legislation will make it illegal for corporations to continue this, in my opinion, stealing a good property from first time homeowners.
