Our only hope would possibly have been a coup by the military. You'd think the folks in Lousiana would be a bit easier to convince...they are ranked as the worst state in the Union by US New and World Report (and even the Shreveport News reported on this) but it's hard to convince folks to vote for what is good for them. They seem to enjoy living in poverty although it will be getting harder and harder as federal funds are cut..LA relies on federal dollars for 35-40% of it's budget (and I don't think that counts when they get FEMA dollars). I know they all believed that deporting migrant workers would all of a sudden make things better, but as the NON Partisan National Bureau of Economic Research just reported, there is"no evidence" that increased immigration enforcement created job opportunities for U.S.-born workers or caused employers to raise wages." And indeed it has actually resulted in fewer jobs as businesses have had to cut back because they don't have enough workers. We need to get that word out to all voters in red states...they are having a hard time NOT because of any personal failure but because of the decisions their elected officials make. If they want their families to continue to suffer because they are so racists, I really don't know what we can do..just make the standard of living for folks in other states who do care much better an dlet all person of color or any sexual orientation know they ar welcome there.

Our job is to share reality with fact right from where they live, ask them if they are happy, if not what ideas do they have for improving things, really listen to them and they gently talk about steps we would like to take, legislation the Dems/Independents would like to enact that would help them.

I don't know what organizations will be helping people actually get to the polls. And I will never get how/why the GOP members of congress want to be part of the movement that is turning the US into a third world nation...they are not all billionaires who will benefit, or at least I don't think they are. Maybe all of them can grift enough off the tax payers to make sure their children never have to work and the tanking of the economy and middle class will never impact them.
